Opportunity in Borderlands 2.

Constant dying, swarm of enemies, it's an annoying place.

I'm playing Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee again and I completely forgot about how unforgiving this game can be. The puzzles are a lot of fun but you get set a long way back when you die sometimes, especially for the extra challenges because you better make certain you do everything perfectly right after otherwise you'll have acccomplished jack shit.

GAHDANG CROSS EXAMINATIONS

Trials are the best part of Phoenix Wright games but sometimes the evidence they want you to provide makes no sense at a given time when there are three other things that can say the same thing better.

"Can you prove that the witness is lying about this blackmail letter?" YES because he's wearing the ring the blackmail letter is referring to IN HIS SPRITE. Whoops you tried to use the actual blackmail letter as evidence? WRONG, it's a newspaper article that doesn't even mention the ring.

God dang it.

Yeah, I remember the 2nd game being the worst about that.

I've never played the second game, only the first and (currently working on) the third.

The first game had a bad one, too. "Can you prove the witness is wrong about hearing a single gunshot?"

YES GOD DANG IT. The information on the gun says FIRED THREE TIMES.

I don't even remember what the right answer for that one was, just that it wasn't the gun.

I guess because you can't prove the other two shots were fired when the witness was there....?

The whole Phoenix Wright judgement system is stupid beyond belief.

Lawyer: "And this piece of evidence proves beyond a doubt my client did not murder the victim!"

Judge: "Hmm, yes it does. Okay, who did murder the victim then?"

Lawyer: "I don't know and that's not part of the trial. I have proven my client is innocent of murder charges, which by the way was after the defense kept physically and verbally abusing me in addition to tampering with a mountain of evidence. Why am I also expected to find the real killer?"

Judge: "Well someone has to go to jail and your client is already here."

Lawyer: "Are you fucking kidding me? The defense destroyed most of the evidence!"

Judge: "Since you can't name the real killer I pronounce your client guilty of all charges! To the electric chair!"

i think the worst part is that while it sounds stupid to us, that is apparently disturbingly close to how the actual japanese court system worked

Doesn't stop it being an exciting and fun game though.

Apollo Justice was pretty rad, too, even though each court case is too daisies long.
And also this music is awesome listen

What I hope for in Phoenix Wright 5 is less exploring for evidence, more court cases.

In-game, you're told the police arrived to the scene almost immediately. And the witness didn't leave during that time. So it's frustrating.

These games are so good but at times the frustrating bits make me want to throw them into a closet for six months.

Dang it I just want to advance the story but Gumshoe is giving me bodaciously nothing to go on.
