I'm late to reply, but I agree that the amount of people I see on the internet who claim to have 'multiple personalities' is ridiculous. There are psychological conditions in which a person may have multiple personalities, but most of what I have researched points to the fact that usually, these alternate personalities are often bothersome or even harmful to the person. And if someone is making a conscious decision to choose which 'personality' they want to use, then I think they're being full of shit. People with an actual personality disorder don't try to make other personalities emerge. Many of them don't WANT their alters to come out because they will do things that the person regrets later. Like drive 100 miles away from their husband and children and go on a shopping spree that the person didn't even remember after she woke up.
I used to pretend I had multiple personalities too. When I was eleven. It's a special snowflake thing most of the time.
But whatever I'm getting kind of taboo so I won't say anything else on the matter.
