I guess this is a good as time as any, What’s your opinion of cultural appropriation? I think anyone that’s against it should also by that logic be against the entire concept of fashion. Because fashion in this modern age is bodaciously by definition cultural appropriation with EVERYTHING in existence that can be worn as a garment. If you want to take that logic to an even more extreme level, What about Native American’s cultural appropriation of animals, by wearing their skins and making headdresses and warrior vests. If you’re thinking in your head that’s a ridiculous idea “Animals don’t have culture” then google “animal culture”. The human race has been culturally appropriating animals for thousands of years. Not just in fashion but in engineering and invention. It’s just how things work. I don’t why the idea of cultural appropriation became such a huge issue with so many people when it came to Native Americans. Fashion has assimilated every aspect of human culture, so why would one small culture be off limits or sacred? It’s pretty popular right now for Chic Goths to wear upside crosses. That’s about as holy and sacred as you can get. Do you see the Vatican, or any Christian religion freaking out about it? The next time I see someone’s septum pierced with a bone, I’m going to yell at them for dishonoring our ancestors the Neanderthals and tell them to boycott the Flintstones. Rubbish.
