That comic reminds me of the time one of my regular customers paused during her purchase to tell me how she started smoking because she saw her fiance get killed by a truck right in front of her.
I get a lot of people telling me stories from their lives on the graveyard shift.
(I know that wasn't the point of the comic, it was the middle panels that made me think of that.)

I can't speak for every cashier, but in my experience no one really cares about what you buy. I think the only time I've ever made an internal comment to myself was when a couple bought some lube and massager and that was just thinking, "Man I wish I was in your guys' position instead of working." I get guys who are sometimes embarrassed about buying condoms too, and it is a bit silly. No reason to be embarrassed about taking care of yourself and/or being safe, you know?
yeah it was fine after the fact i just felt silly for feeling so embarassed about it when i first picked it up

I ate too much salt because of the popcorn I ate earlier and I vomited in the kitchen sink. Luckily, it was a very small pool of vomit. for some reason, the apple I ate just now had salt on it, yet I didn't vomit.

Seriously? Why did you put salt on the apple? Stop that.

I sliced them into little slices. I always like having salted apple slices.

There are a million things with salt tossed in them. Leave the fruit alone.

Is this like the salt on watermelon thing
I've never understood why people put salt on fruit.

I put pepper lime and salt on mine.
It's tasty.

My Dad used to salt EVERYTHING and it would always annoy my Mom (especially so considering she was a nurse, and thus more in tune with the bad shit that can happen with too much salt.) Now he just salts the hell out of his eggs.
It's probably the reason I can't really see the logic insalting everything with just "salt".

Salting fruit lightly helps to bring out its flavor more.
However, that doesn't mean you should do it as a regular snack.
