Thing is most people consider willpower as some ephemeral resource. It's actually more like a muscle, focused in the frontal cortex of the brain. The frontal cortex also deals with immediate stimulations, such as busy surroundings, along with short-term memory and so it gets overloaded incredibly easily. Holding on to that willpower for a year is just highly unlikely because of it.

Well I just scheduled a time to meet with my doctor tomorrow, because I wanted to ask about birth control and stuff. I had to tell the nurse "yeah I just wanted to ask him some things... sorry, I don't really feel comfortable discussing it over the phone" because I'd rather not have my parents find out by overhearing my phone call. I'd rather find out the information myself and then see what they think later. Besides if I can afford it on my own they might not even need to help me out with it.
