This still feels like puppy love to me in all honesty, and unless you can show your dad that you're serious and are smart enough to not potentially be courted by pedophiles, I doubt this is going to convince him. Not even because you're gay and he's a homophobe, but because he won't see you as mature enough to handle this.

It could be the dad getting involved and strong-arming her into taking the safe route or something.

Either that or maybe she got freaked out and now she wants nothing to do with you for some reason and he's intending to make it so.

In any case, let things cool down and maybe see if you can clear the air with her directly. It might at least give you some closure on the ordeal.

That story might deserve a bit more explanation for anyone to comment on it.

This particular guy asked out my friend a year ago. My friend had been warned about this guy from another girl he asked out, so she declined politely. Last week, he messaged me whether or not my friend was still single.
This week, first day of school, he asks me out through facebook message. I am incredibly rustled, because I feel like I'm a back-up plan to him. I don't even know this dude!

You shouldn't take disrespect from people like him to heart. Sounds like he just goes down the list of people he knows, rather than actually be interested in any of them. It doesn't reflect on you at all.

what happened

At what point am I an asshole if I keep trying for a relationship if the other person is hesitant?
We both like each other, but we'll only be together for something like a week and I can't bring myself to accept it won't work out.

So I guess I'm single. I hoped I'd take this better than I am.

Edit: (in new post) we talked it out.
I always knew this wouldn't work. I had plans to break up with her when I went to college or after our visit or just before. I never admitted it to myself before now, but I did.
She felt bad for hurting me, but it wasn't her fault. I told her that - I've felt a hundred times worse before and I've been crueler.
I hope this little revelation flood constitutes my getting over her. It feels like it did.

She felt awful and I'm of course crying, so I asked for one hug before we went to bed.

I might confess my dishonesties in a few days. I want them off my chest so I can go forward without any weights on my heart.

For now, we've sorted up all the immediately important loose ends.

Not sure if this goes here but the longer I have been single the worse I make my room for makeout times
