It's good that she has the hindsight and foresight to want to go slowly, though.

That's the thing, though...she SAYS she wants to take things slowly, but she's partacing in french facebattling, and "even moreso" with people she MIGHT LIKE. Usually such things are the exact opposite of "taking things slow" even in couples where it's already established they like each other.

It's just like this other girl I was interested in. She went ON and ON and ON about wanting to date a "nerd" yet the guys she's with are always jocks...at best.

I mean, nothing like crashing into an emotional situation at high speed to make you start thinking you need to slow down.

That argument could be made, but then again, the argument could also be made of how stupid it is to go crashing into emotional situations in the first place.

It's the same principle behind teens having sex and then immediately regretting it for years.

It makes more sense to handle inexperience, and uncertainty with care, not acceleration.

No shit it was probably a bad thing to do, but it's good that she realized that.

I tend to agree with YCobb, but that's not the important part : the point is I'm in love with her, and I won't stay back because she made a mistake. So I'm gonna try anyway.
Turns out we're going along pretty well, having long sms conversations (for now there's no other option, I'm spending a week in Spain - yes I know this is a little ridiculous) about absolutely anything, and we're getting closer. She wants us to spend a day watching anime, she wants me to show her my magic tricks and to tell her stories (in France we have a long tradition of storytelling and some taletellers pass along the old stories to younger ones. I'm one of those. I'm sorry if I tend to use this topic to assault you with french culture, I do it so you understant what I'm talking about).
So yeah, has any of you some advice ?

Set up a date! If it goes poorly you've no obligation to stay with her, so there's no real reason not to test the waters. Just remember to get out before things get serious if you're not pop flyin', otherwise it can lead to a lot of heartbreak.

EDIT: By date I mean like watching anime and the other stuff she wants to do. Maybe a movie, if you have trouble filling time. Just do what sounds fun, there's no "correct" way to go on a date. Fancy restaurants aren't mandatory.
