Most of the other advice I've recieved has ranged from "All you gotta do is throw the charmander clothes come off!" to as complicated as being given a list of how I'm supposed to treat them completely different from every friend, aquaintence, and loved one I've ever known, including my parents, from the very beginning.

I also ask because, not to try and open another can of worms, if I'm supposed to avoid that ever elusive "friendzone" I'm supposed to follow said list to distinguish myself from a "friend" and a "boyfriend."
The friendzone doesnt exist. Shes either interested in a romantic relationship with you, or she's not, no amount of relationship obstacle course thinking is going to change that. I know its a cliche, but be yourself, and if it doesnt go anywhere, it never would have.

Well that's not quite what I meant by that, I used it to note the kind of advice I've been getting. Like apparently the only difference between the "friendzone" and the "dating zone" is that you have to treat her like a girlfriend from the instant you meet her. In reality the "friendzone" is a bit more complicated than that. Personally I blame the media for all of the bad wrap, and misunderstanding it gets.

@ Cafall: I actually haven't found it all that difficult to remember misc info like that. Then again succeeding in biology is all about the ability to retain misc information......

My math professor had a "formerly favorite number."

It was 88.

That's freaking creepy. A guy in high school did that to me. Don't do that.

If the Internet is to be belived, dating is nothing but an illusion act tailored to see how quickly you can trick someone into having sex with you.

I went to a bar on Thursday to see what the deal is.

It's not just the internet.

I never understood how anyone can pick people up at bars, I can barely hear myself think over the music, much less talk to anyone. Im assuming some sort of interpretive dance or mime act is involved

Everyone is bees. They waggle their butts in interpretive dance to exchange phone numbers.

Anyway, dating shouldn't be much of a chore; if you two have chemistry together, things'll just work out. If you go out and both have a good time, you'll both wanna make it happen again. It's not bad to think up some ideas and plans beforehand, there's no need for a "we'll do X then Y then Z or maybe N" flowchart
