Guys fyi being a well rounded individual is the key to attracting the people you want to attract. It's not about coming off as more confident or cocky or humble. It's about acting exactly as you are without blowing yourself out of proportion. If you act like yourself, you're more likely to attract the people you want to attract. Is anyone really just interested in attracting ANY girl or boy? Or do people want to attract the people they actually want to spend time with. Trust me, once the new people in your life figure out that you are only ACTING cocky, or ACTING humble, they'll be confused as to why they were attracted to you in the first place because that aspect of you was not actually there to begin with.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to just project your own image of yourself as truthfully as possible to other people. This is true of people looking for friendship and romantic relationships.

To cue in to what Vax is saying, this is what people mean when they tell you to just be yourself.

You can pretend to be someone you're not all you want, but sooner or later, usually sooner, people will realize it. The best way to be attractive is go out and do the things that make you pop flyin' and you feel excited about. There's always someone who's excited about that same things and willing to share it with you.

Welp, it's happening again.

I start taking interest in a girl, try to get to know her better, try to strike up casual conversation, and it starts feeling like she's distancing herself from me. Then I start questioning whether I should be giving her more space, and one way or another everything just falls to pieces. I knew that's what would happen this and that's exactly what's happening. It hasn't completely blown up in my face yet, but it will eventually.

What am I doing that makes girls not want to talk to me?

Well we/I wouldn't know unless you gave us like a play by play on the conversation(s) that made you think they were distancing themselves from you.

Would you say that you might come off a little too strong?

Not unless saying hi and asking what the person has been up to today comes off as too strong.
