Re: The Dating Stories/Progress thread
It's wierd... whenever one of you tells me what I'm doing wrong, I get all tingly inside and the colour drains from my face (or at least, that's what it feels like).
I guess I just don't like being wrong.
I still have a huge crush on him though

It's because you're young(also younger) and up until this guy you thought you were straight.
What everyone is saying is to be careful. Don't bandy the word 'love' about too easily. People who are careless with their hearts are liable to have the hearts broken.

Sweetie just seems more personal and "snoogie-bear" fluff nonsense. Honey just feels familiar.Dire wrote:Like Tales!Kamak wrote: My friends notice I say honey, and they joke that I'm a sassy black woman in a monotone white man's body.
What's wrong with sweetie? My friend uses sweetie.
I'm not good with terms of endearment myself. I'll call my partner 'baby' but sometimes I do it in a patronising manner so it's not very sweet after all. I'm not good with romance-words.
One of my friends calls everyone sweetie, and from her it's fine, though it still occasionally weirds her husband out.

I was a bit creased in places, yes. Then [insert name] came along and folded me in half.
EDIT: Yeah yeah I'll be careful. I forgot that part.

Re: The Dating Stories/Progress thread
I guess it depends on the person. There's an older lady at work who calls people sweetie and honey and gorgeous-girl (I think she mainly does it for the girls so it doesn't feel weird) She does it pretty naturally.
But then the duty manager says 'Dear' and it's sorta weird coming from a guy who's in his early 20's and is into call of duty. At first I thought he was being patronising.

Somehow this conversation went from me wanting to be gay to who can and can't call people "Sweetie".

Re: The Dating Stories/Progress thread
I've noticed that using terms of endearment on complete strangers is a southern/regional thing.
Where I used to live in PA (NJ border), if a clerk used terms of endearment when addressing customers, they were at least 80 years old.
Down here in Shitfuckistan, Kentucky, virtually everyone refers to strangers with terms of endearment. Honey, sweetie, love, etc.
It's one of the many things about southern culture that drives me closer and closer to insanity

I think I really like two people at once.
I hope I don't.

I have the biggest crush on someone. It's fairly adorable.
