Honestly, I'd say to just apologise to your friend's mother and skip out on the volunteer thing. Do your driving lesson and start filling out some applications for a part-time job. Open up your own bank account if you haven't already and start saving up to move out. Find out from your friends how much certain bills are and make a budget for how much you need to have set aside each paycheck to pay off your monthly expenses.
Once you have all that you can move out and actually have the freedom to do what you want with your life.

You all seem to be missing a very key ingredient here:
Asian parents.
Yeah, it sounds racist, but her parents seem to live up to most of the cultural stereotypes.

I know she has Asian parents. Which is why my advice is to pretty much just listen to them for the time being while trying to get enough things in order so she can move out. It's a lot harder for parents to use the "while you're under my roof" card when you live on your own.

First world problems, but tagging along to the electronics store was a bad idea. So many new games and 0 cheddar

Sailor Moon's mother has been fired from her job. This means less cheddar to spend in trains, and less chances to see each other every month

Could you have your friend's mother call your parents to tell them how much you help her and how well-behaved you are? Your parents sound like they care a lot about their reputation, that could help.
Also yeah, try to stay on their good side until you can get your own place. Hopefully then they'll have a concrete proof that they can't control you anymore and will let you be.
And don't let anyone tear down your self-confidence.

But my concern is that they'll be so concerned about their control over her that they won't let her get a job.

It would really depend on the type of job she'd be applying for. But even assuming that they are the biggest control freaks ever, which they likely are not, the biggest obstacle preventing her from moving out would be if her parents start charging her rent once she gets her job. Again I doubt they are that level of controlling.

I just saw the last thing I did before my computer broke and I stopped coming here for a while was signing up for Find or Die VIII and then never posting again. This kind of thing happens to me way to often, and I'm always sad when I see people waited for me to say something and I didn't. Buh.

To be fair, most people only ever see the annoying ones.

This would also be my main concern. My mother pulled this on me once I moved back home after filing miserably living on my own. It's not a nice feeling knowing the only people you can ever really count on for anything are trying to fuck you over royally.
Though, I agree with what you two are saying. Get a job, start applying for universities early, Save up and get yourself outta there. That level of controlling imho isn't just. You're a human, Angelic. You deserve to go outside and hang out with friends.
Is there no way you could sit them down and try to work out a compromise? If your grades are good and the house is clean I don't see any reason why you should be kept inside, especially if they're home when they ask you to watch your sibling. He's eight. Generally eight year olds want to do their own thing and play with their own toys.

Whenever I upset important people in my life I can't do much except curl into a ball and cry. I mean, I try and ask what I can do to make it up to them, and I link pictures that are funny or cute or take their mind off being upset, but then I feel like I'm forcing their smiles. I don't have any words besides I'm sorry, and anything else just feels like a lame excuse.
Edit: Also, idk if anyone wants follow up on what I last posted I the thread, but I did get to go volunteer. I helped out a lot, writing stuff down, getting bandages, and also giving out bottles of water. We saved three collapsed people that day. So much heat stroke, dang. The only way I got to do DND was cuz I didn't tell my Dad, and just got permission from my mom. Dad was pretty rustled, but he was too busy to yell at me. I know it's gonna be used against me later, but for now, I guess things are okay.
And no, Supaaku, they aren't going to charge me rent. Least, they don't for my big brother. And anyway, my mom encourages me getting a job. She gets mad at me that I haven't done my driving lessons too, but no nes ever told me how to do it. I know I could google everything, but it's all new and scary, I guess. I still feel very immature since I am really naive to all this stuff I should know or have done already.
Also, I am starting to gather my university stuff together now. It's a community college, but it has animation and game/graphic design, so that's good. Just hope I can get a job this summer and move out. I need to schedule doing things though, geeze, I've been slacking cause of all this school stuff I'm involved in.

I feel bad about stuff then feel even worse that I'm feeling worse about that than worse issues. So whenever I want to complain about something I instantly feel guilty.

I wish the FANFICTION thread was more popular.
