Study Buddies (AKA NOW LET US ALL NOT FAIL CLASSES AND SHIT)
Re: Study Buddies (AKA NOW LET US ALL NOT FAIL CLASSES AND S
Apparently the professor for my Introduction to Probability Theory class spent the whole semester ranting about everyone in the course was stupid and is going to fail the class at every opportunity.
Fun stuff. I couldn't go to the class because of other stuff at the same time, so I got the notes from a friend and hope I can grasp the stuff until the 2nd chance exam in april. Else I have to retake the class.

I didn't count but from looking at the page with results, about 50% failed, 40% barely passed and the rest have something acceptable.D-vid wrote:Apparently the professor for my Introduction to Probability Theory class spent the whole semester ranting about everyone in the course was stupid and is going to fail the class at every opportunity.

Is this high school or university?
Actually, it doesn't matter, failing grades look just as bad on a professor as they do the class either way. I never could understand this pride some professors have in being "difficult". If THAT MANY students fail your exams, you're either a shitty teacher, or you write shitty exams. Those are your two options.

University. Better yet, it's an introductory class "Introduction to Probability Theory". According to friends the exam was also a lot harder than any of the preparations he did.

Then I'd either drop the class, or give him a shitty review at the end. After that, talk with the dean of his department. I'm sure if enough people complain to enough sources, someone will tell him to get his head out of his booty.

Can't drop it, it's mandatory for the degree.

Is he the only professor who aches it ever?

Sounds like yalls philosophy class goes way into detail on those writings. I only ever got the basics, sorry I can't be of much help.
Ugh, my brain is in blow-off mode because it's the last week before Spring Break, but I have a midterm on Friday and plenty of homework to do still, argh.

Learning about hormones in Anatomy and Physiology makes me feel like one wrong heartbeat and I'm ruined...

Re: Study Buddies (AKA NOW LET US ALL NOT FAIL CLASSES AND S
So I'm doing a research paper on the education system in a local, very affluent neighborhood.
I can gather data on it all day, but I'm not sure where to go with it. I need a good hypothesis, some trend to look for so I can form a good thesis for the paper. Right now all I really got is "Yeah they're rich white kids and the school is successful because they have cheddar"
I'm thinking of looking for signs that the school wants to isolate itself from the more lower-class parts of the city, but I'm not sure where to look for evidence of that... I may have to go to the public library this weekend.

I've got end of course assessments coming up soon. I'm not worried about most of them, but my Biology one has me a little worried. Anyone know anything about cell functions and stuff? That's the only part of it that I can't really remember very well.
