Study Buddies (AKA NOW LET US ALL NOT FAIL CLASSES AND SHIT)
Re: Study Buddies (AKA NOW LET US ALL NOT FAIL CLASSES AND S
I have to summarize 10 articles - web or otherwise - on notecards for American Government by December.
I'm ging to do a short screenshot LP of Portal for a phisics paper. Can't wait.
At semester, I'm dropping german because I don't want it to hurt my gpa.
Also i need to start scholarship searching, but it seems so daunting, I don't know where to start...

Oh so the test so far in my classes HAVE in fact been easy, so now I'm definitely entering Ultimate Slacker Mode.
But I have a 10-page paper that'll be due this Thursday and all I have is a thesis, whoops
gonna attempt to make a decent outline today.

The prompt I'm using is "What environmental choices and conditions lead some societies to fail where others succeed?"
I'm planning on writing about how the Native Americans who lived in New England around colonial times eventually turned to focusing their economies on status symbols and political power (like selling furs to the English colonists) rather than focusing on all the huge environmental problems they were facing (disease epidemics, overhunting, destruction of forests, etc) and how it basically sealed their fate.
It's really based around this one book we're reading about it, so its mostly analysis of what the author is asserting.

You know what I hate about writing papers? The fact that it's all about having an argument. I'm the type of person who sees both sides; I can be just as insightful in an expository paper as I could in one that argues one point that challenges another. I kinda just want to shed light on a topic, not challenge anything.
Heck, most of the books we're taking information from don't have an argument, they're just informational. Is it (academically) provocative or have novel information and perspectives? Yes, but that doesn't mean it's trying to make a point.
Hmm maybe this is just me trying to brainstorm thesis ideas.

I need to design an office for my Office Management class, but I can't decide.
Ideas greatly appreciated.

Think about what the space is used for. For example: will they have a lot of ref books? Then they need shelves. Will they be doing any drawing? Then they'll need a drafting table.Need Runes4 wrote:I need to design an office for my Office Management class, but I can't decide.

Do they have adequate lighting? Do they need a communal space for meetings and collaborating? How many people will be working there? Will they need a computer each? What storage will they need?
You get the idea. Perhaps look at the Ikea website for ideas too.

Oh god, you've doomed him to IKEA hell now.
There will be tables hanging from the ceiling.
another thing to keep in mind, be sure to plan out wall sockets. It may seem silly, but a lot of office design is based around where the sockets are for computers, so you don't have cords going across the room. Assuming you're designing the whole office INCLUDING the sockets, you can go hog wild and put them anywhere (but be sure they show up on the design). If you have a basic room design given to you, you may have to finagle everything around the sockets, or get creative with your cords.
