Can also pick up things with toes and throw them. Door opening is indeed a good skill to have when your hands are full.
I pace. It pisses people off. I say it keeps me thin.

Re: habits and tics
I occasionally trip over myself and often make awkward movements while walking, I suppose gangling is a good way to describe it.
Re: habits and tics
Whenever I bite my nails I usually end up eating the nails because lol
Re: habits and tics
I sort of bite my nails, only not the normal way. Know those bits where a small offshoot of nail is? Maybe where it split off the side? I nibble those off.
Stuff goes here later.

Re: habits and tics
This thread is starting to seem somewhat like the confessions thread. Didn't we also have a thread called "Why you are unique and no one else is like you" kind of like this? I never really know what goes in which of those threads. Sometimes I wonder if we should just have a "everything about yourself you think others care about" thread so we can start filling that.
ANYWAY
I often feel the need to get up from sitting, lying down, whatever with FLAIR which is usually just something silly like spinning as I get up or posing at the end.

Re: habits and tics
I bite the loose skin over my middle knuckles. It's gotten to the point where there are callouses over them now.
Re: habits and tics
When I pretend to be thinking (which is constantly in class,) I put the knuckle of my forefinger on my filtrum (that thing right under the nose,) and my thumb wrapped around the bottom of my chin, leaving my other fingers curved and covering my mouth. I usually just give muffle replies when someone asks me questions.
I constantly sanitize my hands to the point that they dry out.
I tend to remember the oddest things during moments of indifference and it makes me laugh to the point I can't stop laughing in class or during conversations. Then, I can never explain what I was laughing about (like the canabanalism picture on Funny Pictures.)
I pop my knuckles, toes, neck, back and elbows all consecutively and make it sound like a fireworks display on fire.
I can't pronounce most words, despite my first major being english, so I wind up doing the verbal equivalent of asdfjklgh! constantly.
Everytime I feel there is someone behind me, watching or passing by, my neck shivers and my head flails to the left, and then just stops like it never happened.
I also talk with my hands constantly. Sailor Moon has even went so far as to say that I've created my own sign language for building a Subway sandwich.

I cannot sit down and talk on the phone. If I am using the phone, I have to be pacing. Like, if I try to sit down, I'll feel all distracted, and as soon as I stop making a conscious effort to remain sitting, I habitually stand up and start walking.

^ This. Every phone call.

Oh my gosh riku you are me WE ARE WE
My family always teases me and makes fun of me for pacing on the phone. If it's a short conversation, I don't get up too much or I just stand and pace a little. If it's a long one though, I'm strutting all through the house. My sister once attempted to force me into my room to get me to stop pacing as it apparently annoyed her.

I walk around while on the phone too. Well, I used to, but my phone sucks so I have to be right next to a window for the phone call to work...so that limits my mobility.
I used to have a lot of weird shit, like not walking on cracks and that shit...but I just got tired of doing them and paying attention to that stuff, so after a while of trying to stop, I managed to stop a lot of them.
But recently I've developed a habit of grinding my teeth, causing constant pain and fatigue in my jaw and head. FUUUU

Re: habits and tics
Whenever I'm on the phone, I start pacing and fiddling with random objects around the room. When I hang up I'm like, "Wait where did this come from and why did I set it down right here?"
I also started grinding my teeth last year when I lived in the dorm, since I would wake up with a sore jaw, I think it was because I had trouble getting to sleep whenever my roommate was in the room and trying to sleep with other stuff going on stressed me out a lot.
Dunno if this counts in this thread, but my sleeping habits are terrible. Not just in the usual "I stay up late and wake up late" sort of way, but I actually just suck at sleeping, in general.
For me to fall asleep at night...
-It has to be almost silent, only very regular background sound like air conditioning, but not music, and definitely not anyone talking anywhere nearby, even softly. The sound of people up and about in the same room or the next room will keep me up.
-It has to be fairly dark, but I can usually solve that by covering my face with blankets
-The fan can't be on, the feeling of air hitting my face will keep me up
-The bed has to be comfortable, and I have a special memory foam pillow that I use
-I can't sleep with a cat, it moving around distracts me
Even with all these satisfied, it takes maybe half an hour at least to fall asleep. Once I'm asleep I'm okay until morning, though. The fact that I had so much trouble with sleeping was my biggest problem with dorm life and it was why I got my own place, just to have my own bedroom really. The only way I survive otherwise is with earplugs and/or sleeping medicine.
