RP: End of the One
RP: End of the One
You are not an adventurer. You are a student, or a businessman, or a prostitute, or a construction worker, or anything else. You are a normal person, one of many in the world. Or at least you were. But something happened. Whether it was due to an accident, or intentional, or natural, you are dead.
But this is not heaven. You stand in a cold, empty stone room, barely the size of a walk-in closet. There are no openings anywhere, and the only feature of note is the message carved into one of the walls, blazing with white light that cuts through the darkness.
"You are the One. The One of many. Long or short, your life is at an end. If you seek to live on, if you wish to see the life after, or if you desire to rest eternal, engage the trials set before you.
You are the One. The One of many. What means will be left to you."
The carving shudders and retreats into the ceiling, revealing a long passage with torches set into the walls. The end of the passage is hidden in darkness. The first choice is to be made. Step forward? Or stay back?
RULES OF THE GAME
Okay this is how it's going to work. There are ten rooms ahead of you. All with various traps and creatures and terrain. It's up to you to navigate your way past them and reach the end. That's the ultimate win condition and it's what ends the game. But it's not the only condition for you to "win." Anything that keeps your soul in existence is a "win" for that player, but this won't defeat the room. And it might not even be very nice.
So if keeping the soul intact is the win condition, what is the loss condition? Simply put, everything else. You die, you lose. And you will die. A lot. I'm purposely making these rooms difficult; think Dark Souls. You make a single mistake and you can probably facebattle your turn goodbye. This isn't a hard and fast rule though, sometimes a mistake can lead to a "win" condition. Or it might uncover a treasure. Or both.
You will be assigning stats to your individual characters, and I'll touch on this in a minute. This game will be using dice rolls for actions, d20's to be exact, much like DnD. You will only roll when I tell you to, using random.org. In addition you will link a small picture of the dice roll box so I know you're using 1-20 for your number and not cheating. You could roll constantly until you get a good one, true, but if I even think you're doing that I will kill off your character. Don't complain when I do so that it was just good luck, I won't care.
One last thing. Only one person gets to play at a time, and another can't step in until the previous is dead. There is a reason for this. You may find out what it is in the game, if you're perceptive enough. However, there are times when people not playing can influence events. You may be able to help the current player succeed if you're nice. Or you can kill him off if you're a dick and you like sabotage. Either way's fine.
CHARACTER SHEET
Occupation: (This is the modern world and I reserve the right to reject any violations of what a normal person's job could be. Includes any weaboo fightan people or mercenaries.)
Don't put down a name or anything other than occupation. Simple rule. Breaking said rule means your character dies and you get punted to the back of the line.
STATS - Everyone gets twenty points. There are exceptions further in the game.
Physical: (Governs strength, health, agility, and everything else with your body)
Mental: (Your mental abilities, including intelligence, wit, and perception)
Spiritual: (Determines how affected you are by spirits, magic, and such.)
I would advise you pick one as your majority stat dump. Balanced builds may not survive long in some rooms.
Game starts tomorrow. First come first serve. Oh, one final thing. If it's your turn, you are to put your posts in bold so I can pick it out easier.
DEATH TALLY
Bacon: 1 (Swallowed by darkness)
Blitz Walrus: 1 (Poked the darkness, that was smart)
Exeres: 1 (Liquefied into forge materials)
TRAP NOMINATION TO HALL OF FAME - Killed 5 people or more in all three sessions combined
The Darkness: 6

It puts your fate in your own hands, not mine. I'm the DM. And I won't punish a lucky streak, I'll punish if I think there's been cheating.Ablu2 wrote:(Being punished for having a really good lucky streak sounds kind of harsh. What exactly is stopping you from rolling the die, Madican? )
