I love you guys even though I've only been here for like 2 months.

I used to say things just to make people close to me feel better about themselves. More so due to me being.....bad at giving advice but still wishing I could provide comfort and help in some way. Thanks to multiple occasions of backlash from friends and family alike waking me up to what I'm doing wrong, it's something I'm trying to put more of a conscious effort on avoiding.

I feel like I sometimes put up a front that I'm this overly cheerful and kind person just to mask the fact that I can be quite fearful of intimacy. There are only two people on this forum that I can say I have allowed into my life almost as closely as a family member. I debate with myself on whether or not this was a good decision sometimes.

Most of you I would consider acquaintances.

Everyone else is a complete stranger and I wish to keep this that way. As I've come to learn lately, personal relationships are so difficult and stressful sometimes. It's causing me to become even more closed off to developing more relationships then I used to be. But at least I can make better choices hopefully.

I am a member of your family.

But yeah no, I used to be in a very similar mindset. I've never been all that into intimacy or close relationships, but eventually I underwent some weird metamorphosis and now I really like to create bonds with people, and I am closer to family and friends than I have ever been. Not that I'm saying this is destined to happen for you, but yeah that's how it went for me.
I'd say never close yourself off from letting people into your life, but yeah most definitely be smart about the who and the why of it all.
