Problem is that you arent Humphrey Bogart. This whole thing wouldnt be an issue if more people were Humphrey Bogart.
Actually, I can respect someone who just says "You know what, fuck what people think, I like this hat and Im going to wear it". Thats admirable. It just pisses me off when you see a guy who's completely caught up in some ridiculous escapism and honestly thinks wearing a shitty mass produced piece of felt makes him look sophisticated or cool. Wearing something because you're trying to cultivate a delusional persona just makes you look pathetic.

Well my thing is, you have to have the right face for hats. >80% of the people that wear those trilbies don't have the right face shape for them. Sure, it's easier than a full-brim Fedora, but still. If you need to wear a ~gentleman's hat~ get one that fucking fits your face.
(I'm not bothering with the "and dress to match" bit, because I'm pretty sure that virtually every person on this forum who would be reading this has made that complaint themselves.)

I own a real nice fedora that was my dad's when he was a kid and super into Idiana Jones. I'd be upset that fedoras have such a bad reputation now, except A] I'd look like a douhe wearing it no matter what, B] it's not a dumb trilby which is what has actually had its reputation ruined, and C] it doesn't even fit me anymore.
I'll just pass it on to my kid whenever they go through their Indiana Jones phase.

I had a friend who was exactly like those stereotypical "all women hate me, but the ones who ask me out aren't hot enough" kind of guys. He took the gentleman classy thing to a whole new level. He wrote sonnets, and preferred top hats to trilbys/fedoras.

I won't buy a game on Steam because it cost 30$ and I have the cheddar for it. I've bought every game in my library from some sort of sale and so I figure there will be a better deal some day.
Do you think I'm a pretentious snob or not?

I like discussing movies and video games and whatnot with people, but when someone tells me that they really liked/didn't like a piece of media that I really didn't like/liked, I almost get slightly irritated and starting thinking, "Geez, what did/didn't they like about it, it was obviously crap/phenomenal and here's ten reasons why, #1.....". I've gotten a lot better about it, but that's just a part of me that I don't like about myself. I try to not be a condescending butt about it, but sometimes people have opinions that I think are just plain wrong(I have a friend who really likes Jar Jar Binks) and at those times, I find it hard to not try to convince them to try to see my point of view when it comes up in conversation and WHY AM I LIKE THIS. I seriously don't know if people think this is an annoying habit of mine or if they notice at all.

Would it hurt you to know I'm neutral about Jar Jar?

WE CAN'T BE FRIENDS ANYMORE
YOU'RE NOT INVITED TO MY BIRTHDAY PARTY
Nah, I don't really mind that much. He doesn't irritate as much as some people, but I really don't think he added anything to the movie. When I had that conversation with my friend about him, what really got to me was that he was using(in my opinion) really stupid arguments for why Jar Jar is great and then acting cocky about it. He bodaciously told me at one point in that discussion, "You can't beat me at this argument, Marc. I'm good at making solid arguments." I had to refrain from telling him that no, he WASN'T making a sold argument, I just wasn't making counterarguments because I was trying not to be a critical butthole.
