Sigh, what is it gonna take for our governments to do something about minimum wage laws?

If you're American, probably the threat of the world ending, and then only a superficial promise that doesn't actually mean anything. Outside of immigration, minimum wage laws are the only thing keeping the American economy competitive with other nations like Brazil, India or China who don't even have to pay their workers anything. Also, trying to help people in America as a politician will brand you as a socialist and a populist.

This sets an important precedent.
This is pretty interesting, wish the article gave more information, though. US seems to be having issues with extradition in the past, Assange, that one dude in HK, and now this Dutch fella.

Extradition isn't just an issue for the US, it's a difficult problem in international law and politics. US's own policy is to never extradite their own citizens. I know Belgium has a similar policy, but the Netherlands apparently doesn't since they're even considering it.

What would be the point to a life sentence without parole then another 1000 years? I have a feeling he might make it to the end of a life sentence, but the odds of him seeing the 1000 years through are kind of slim.

The point is to ensure he never gets out of prison in exchange for not receiving the death penalty.

1000 years seems a bit excessive for that goal though. It's not like that guy's Gandalf.

Well, who knows ? Maybe if he behave correctly he'll get out in only 750 years !

It might be so excessively high so that even if his sentence gets cuts drastically for whatever reason, he's still not getting out.

Nah that's what parole is. Even if he could live that long he would still be serving the full sentence.
