To be more accurate, she said that "Muslims praying in the streets" was like "a form of occupation", she didn't mention Nazis. However, she did compare the EU to the Soviets.Obnosim wrote:Speaking of EU
Marine Le Pen, the batshit leader of the main far right party in France (Front National), just got her European parliament immunity revoked because she compared letting muslims pray in the streets to being occupied by the Nazis. Following the ruling, she compared the jury to Soviets from the USSR and said this wouldn't stop her from saying THE TRUTH.
To be honest I haven't heard about that.Obnosim wrote:The same party has some scary ramifications, such as a militia that plans to kill all Muslim and Jewish people in France before moving on to the rest of the world and owns several schools where they teach kids revisionist history and nursery rhymes about sending Jews to Auschwitz.
It's at this point where this crosses over into authoritarianism. While that was a very bad joke and shouldn't have been made, it's the parent's job to raise their kids not to devour beating hearts, not the government's.
The article I read said l'Occupation. I thought that meant WWII. Maybe it's wrong though.Le Great Handsome Oppressor wrote:To be more accurate, she said that "Muslims praying in the streets" was like "a form of occupation", she didn't mention Nazis. However, she did compare the EU to the Soviets.
There is this documentary about it. It seems to be a catholic thing first and foremost, but I distinctly remember them saying they have ties with FN.Le Great Handsome Oppressor wrote:To be honest I haven't heard about that.Obnosim wrote:The same party has some scary ramifications, such as a militia that plans to kill all Muslim and Jewish people in France before moving on to the rest of the world and owns several schools where they teach kids revisionist history and nursery rhymes about sending Jews to Auschwitz.
So, she was indeed talking about Nazi occupation.«I'm sorry, but for those who like to talk about WWII a lot, if we're talking about occupation, we could talk about it here, because this is an occupation of the territory. Yes, there are no tanks, there are no soldiers, but it's still an occupation, and it weighs on the inhabitants.»
EDIT: I should mention this happened in Brazil, and that it happened in apparently a small area during a local game from what I'm seeing?source wrote:Police say enraged spectators invaded a football field, stoned the referee to death and quartered his body after he stabbed a player to death.
The Public Safety Department of the state of Maranhao says in a statement that it all started when referee Otavio da Silva expelled player Josenir Abreu from a game last weekend. The two got into a fist fight, then Silva took out a knife and stabbed Abreu, who died on his way to the hospital.
The statement issued this week says Abreu's friends and relatives immediately "rushed into the field, stoned the referee to death and quartered his body."
Local news media say the spectators also decapitated Silva and stuck his head on a stake in the middle of the field.
Police have arrested one suspect.
