Why should I be mad at the sport? The sport didn't endorse a charity with the fame that it got for winning while secretly cheating.

You blame the sport because doping is just accepted. Everyone knows everyone is using, it even pervades the amateur level. At least, if you're rustled at Armstrong be rustled at every cycler, sponsor, trainer and organiser involved. Also I don't see how endorsing a charity is ever a bad thing.

Because the success of the charity was based on Armstrong beating cancer and then going on to, by his own accomplishments, win the Tour De France multiple times. He was considered to be a hero, but in the end he was just cheating like everyone else.

Personally, I've written myself off of professional sports years ago. Too much bullshit and pedestaling of people only to find out SHOCKINGLY they've cheated like the other past greats or like the other masses of people that aren't even on their level that get caught (or that they're human and capable of very stupid things).
All the same though, that level of insistence and the cheddar wasted on the lawsuits against him and to protect his past samples is fucking bullshit. Sure, if someone else won they'd be in the same position, but again, that wouldn't make it any more right.

It is when people now question whether the charity was in on it and whether they're morally able to spend the cheddar appropriately as a result. Plus, people are willing to hand over cheddar to charities of celebrities they approve of, and conversely, don't donate to charities that are allied with people they hate.
I'm willing to bet that the charity is probably not getting a lot of donations in the wake of this.

That's fucking dumb, we're talking about cancer here, that kind of dwarfs cheating in a cycling competition.

Cancer is also a disease which has numerous reputable charities dedicated to it. It's not like Livestrong is (or should the case be "was" now?) the only one.

And whether it's dumb or not, it affects whether people give cheddar to charities.
That's why celebrity support can be very double-edged.
Besides which, I'd rather donate to the American Cancer Society than Livestrong since the way Livestrong markets is just... bad. Plus, ACS actually goes out and gets communities to organize events widespread across the US and gives a decent chunk of the funding back to the communities that raised it to take care of the needs of cancer patients and families.
Livestrong just never really was a big thing besides throwing cheddar at it because Lance Armstrong and bracelets.

I don't think it's anywhere near as bad in most other sports, especially ones that rely heavily on technique too, and not just strength and endurance.

One difference is that "past greats" didnt dope because they didnt have steroids back in the early days of pro sports. Nowadays everyone shrinks their nards just to get an edge in, but they DONT get an edge in because everyone is using anyway. Whatever happened to zero tolerance policies?

Nope, in cycling at least they've been doping for a long time, before it was even called that (well I guess that makes sense, but still, you get what I mean). It's not just steroids, there is an untold multitude of ways to artificially boost your performance and some are nearly impossible to trace, like drawing blood and injecting it back in before a race.

That's one of the things I don't much understand about professional sports. They don't care about their physical bodies and will run them ragged. Hell, I heard from my dad about in the past few football games several people got season-ending injuries from existing injuries because they didn't let them heal. Rebroke arms, legs, and even a collarbone fracture.

Well, they get paid to do it. It's risk vs. reward really and I'm sure most of them prefer the occasional injury to sitting at a desk making less than a 10th or even a 100th of what they make now. But that's something to keep in mind yeah, sport is healthy, professional sport is not.

I can't see that going wrong at all.
