Hopefully they won't try to cram in some brand new story with previous characters in it because I don't think there are many that could replace some of the actors' roles.

I'm hoping the movie will be perhaps based on one of the Star Wars Expanded Universe stories. If they could get some of the old actors on board, they could take their age into account with the story. It would be better though to see some other new characters enter the movie spotlight.

It's not that it's Disney, it's that it's Star Wars. I've lost faith in that franchise too many times to ever regain it.

They also gave Jeph Loeb creative control over the Marvel cartoons and look how that turned out; Avengers: EMH is cancelled and is being replaced with a show more in line with the movie, and he created Ultimate Spider-Man, a show which is on par with Family Guy in the amount of cut-away gags and in which Loeb gave a teenage super-hero character the name "Sam" - the same as his son that passed away.
Burn 'em to shreds, tear 'em to ashes.

Leobs been pulling that Sam shit for years. Though yeah, Marvel isn't....great at animated cartoons and it was kinda shitty to cancel EMH. I'll give you that.

It's worth noting that disney also gets indiana jones, lucasfilm, lucasarts, skywalker sound and a bunch of other little production companies. Should be interesting what comes of this.

I want to see a Grim Fandango movie, hopefully with tim schafer's input

You know, I'm pop flyin' as long as they don't do anything too ridiculous, like make a 7th Star Wars movie......

Nah, everything in there has to actually be a Disney or Square product. Even if Disney technically owns them, I don't thing that changes the source of things like Star Wars or Marvel. Disney is basically just there to collect a paycheck.

Honestly, Disney can do whatever they want to Star Wars. I never saw why the series was so good in the first place considering Lucas did everything in his power, even in the originals, to ruin them. Empire Strikes Back, the best one, was where he was not the director and people actually stood up to him. Whereas Return of the Jedi, where he had more power, oh look fucking Ewoks and cheesy drama.

A new trilogy and new movies every couple of year after. Yep, Disney just sees this as yet another cash cow. Question is how much cash that cow will make them.
Stuff goes here later.

There will always be the devoted few who will buy everything about the new movies.
Everyone else will see them once or twice then forget about them.

Or, they could be really mindblowingly amazing, but the odds of that are 1 in a billion.

On that note I hope the new story features none of the old characters. fucking Jar Jar and C3PO man they make me want to murder

Disney may see franchises as cash cows, but it also understands it needs to bring at least a modicum of quality to milk that cash cow.

C3PO? How?

I'd like to see this go into less action and more of how the SW universe operates.

this topic is going on in three threads simultaniously
