Re: The Current Events Thread
Well it seems significantly more petty and needlessly destructive to kill someone over a CHANCE that you might get HIV. What if he gets tested later and comes up negative? He'll have ended a life over nothing more than a brief worry.

Re: The Current Events Thread
Googled it and the answer seems to be not always, which does change my opinion along with reflecting upon it after Riku's comment.
As it isn't 100% guaranteed, not to mention Riku was probably right that he was likely a danger beforehand if he lets his temper get the better of him (I hope I'm not misinterpreting), then yeah it wasn't justified in any way.
Both are at fault but this will definitely be hard for the two sons.
I also gotta admit, I was a bit rash with my former post there.

I was not excusing the man's action, just answering your question. Also, the man may not have been aware of this, there is a lot of misinformation about HIV somehow.Mr. Mander wrote:Well it seems significantly more petty and needlessly destructive to kill someone over a CHANCE that you might get HIV. I also don't think it's appropriate to play the blame game here as outside observers. Let's just leave it at that it's a terrible tragedy.

Sean Smith, one of the people who died in the attack on the US Embassy in Libya, was an avid EVE Online player. Tons of people on EVE gathered to remember him. Coincidentally (Or maybe intentionally), he served as a diplomat in EVE.

He was also a SA mod. MSNBC had a nice bit on him

The article did say that he was a member of Goon Swarm, so I knew he had some affiliation with SA, but I didn't know that he was a mod. That's pretty cool.

Another guy who died lived the town over from me. He was from Winchester, Massachusetts. He graduated from the same highschool my mom did, 4 years after she graduated. So this whole thing hit pretty locally for quite a few people.BurntToShreds wrote:Sean Smith, one of the people who died in the attack on the US Embassy in Libya, was an avid EVE Online player. That's a pretty solid PSA campaign.

Oh, he financed the loan on my Brutix when I was eleven. He'll be missed. Great guy, willing to help not only the big alliances but dropped into noobspace to help out beginners.BurntToShreds wrote:Sean Smith, one of the people who died in the attack on the US Embassy in Libya, was an avid EVE Online player. I cannot imagine how obnoxious it must be to wear a tight leather skirt over those loose jeans.
But other than that, cool design for a campaign.
