Re: The Current Events Thread
No man, Romney is bodaciously the antichrist and will destroy all of our rights if elected. If Elected, Romney's first orders of business will be keeping revoking the right to vote from women, minorities, and white males, summing his army of hellspawn to raze the countryside, and delaying Episode 3 again. He is evil incarnate and no I am not overacting in the slightest what are you talking about.

How does this even work?Apple patented the means to transmit an encoded signal to all wireless devices, commanding them to disable recording functions.

Re: The Current Events Thread
They need to put the technology into the devices first for this, probably hardware wise, so I don't think they can do anything to existing devices. Other than that it's pretty easy to do, but you could probably just disable the receiver to stop it from disabling, although depending on what they use as the receiver or signal-type that could disable other features such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Regardless it will probably always be possible to crack the device.

but... cracking is wrong!

It doesn't even need to be hardware, a simple software update with that functionality hidden in it would be enough.

Re: The Current Events Thread
Honestly, I'm a bit more forgiving to the man. He was overcome with rage because his whole life was devastated an instant. The woman hid this from him though, despite probably knowing it would be devastating for him.
Unfortunately, we will never know why she hid it but unless it was a daisies good reason, I'd say her case was worse as it seems the man was gripped with blinding rage, which would be very difficult to control considering the bombshell the woman dropped while she willingly infected him with HIV.
Even so, the murder wasn't right but I understand why he did it and I can't brand him a monster.

Ah, I'd say that killing her was definitely bad. If he can't control his rage, even for something like that, then he probably shouldn't be out around people until he's had some serious counseling.
Yeah, that was a shitty move on her part, but worth a break-up, not death.

Re: The Current Events Thread
Infecting someone with HIV does have lifelong consequences, and it's really freakin' stupid to not tell somebody that for the sake of sex.
Of course, it is also terrible to stab someone to death out of rage. The woman had two kids, as well, if I'm reading this correctly.
It's a tragedy on both sides.

Re: The Current Events Thread
Is HIV guaranteed to infect a sexual partner? I may be misinformed but I've been under the impression that there's only a chance for it to transmit, like a lot of diseases.

Re: The Current Events Thread
No, it's not guaranteed. I don't think there are good statistics on the odds but they seem to be lower than 1 in 10 at the very least. HIV infection doesn't guarantee AIDS either. The odds aren't relevant if the intent was to infect though, that's like playing russian roulette with someone's life.
