Please stop derailing the thread.
[5:06:23 PM] Yeili: this is kind of cool, i've beaten a murderer in mario party.

Thank you for informing me of this. I had no idea. (About civil unions and you being gay)Bacon wrote:Actually. Civil unions don't give the same federal rights as marriage does. Marriage has state and federal rights, whereas unions only get state rights. Also, if you have a union in one state, if you go to another state without civil unions, I believe the union isn't recognised. Just as if a gay couple gets married in one state, but goes to live in a different without gay marriage, the marriage also isn't recognised.
And eat_box. This is important to me, because I am gay, and I want to get married one day. This isn't about it being the most important, but please don't say it's not important just because it doesn't affect you.
In your situation I would... shit now I don't know.
My first thought is "Get civil unions legalized nationwide." But you say you want to get married. So... I guess it would be hard to be gay and conservative.
If something I say offends you, it was probably a sarcastic joke.

There are a few gay conservatives sprinkled in congress. They are also the ones that start the anti-gay movement. But, there is like a new gay senator outed every week.Kbman wrote:Thank you for informing me of this. I had no idea. (About civil unions and you being gay)Bacon wrote:Actually. It's going to be appealed soon, isn't it? I wonder if they'll bring any new arguments to the table.

I'm all about it. I doubt the Supreme Court will have anything to say against it. This is definitely something that should be left to the states to decide individually.

I hate to cut the party short, but there is a massively gaping hole in every story published by every news outlet so far:
Vaughn R. Walker, the judge who made this decision, is openly gay. The opponents of the ruling could use this to argue pre-existing bias and overturn it on conflict of interest. We haven't jumped the hurdle, people. We're balancing on top of it, and chaos theory says we can fall either way.
