Gay Marriage Allowed in California
Even so, being unable to marry is a restriction that gay people think divides them from more "traditional" couples. Another barrier, mostly.
Now do me a favor, AZ community, don't flip your shit at this guy just because he's asking questions.

Actually. Civil unions don't give the same federal rights as marriage does. Marriage has state and federal rights, whereas unions only get state rights. Also, if you have a union in one state, if you go to another state without civil unions, I believe the union isn't recognised. Just as if a gay couple gets married in one state, but goes to live in a different without gay marriage, the marriage also isn't recognised.Kbman wrote:What I want to know is why this is even a problem. Gay people have all of the same rights as straight people. Everything offered to a married couple is also offered to a civil union. The only thing they were fighting for was being able to use a piece of paper with "Marriage" on it instead of "Civil Union."
And eat_box. This is important to me, because I am gay, and I want to get married one day. This isn't about it being the most important, but please don't say it's not important just because it doesn't affect you.

I didn't say it's not important. Just not AS important/ This is a big deal for you and I respect that but I like living in a country not owned by China more. :IBacon wrote: And eat_box. I think New York recognizes the marriages/unions even if they don't perform themBacon wrote:Actually. Civil unions don't give the same federal rights as marriage does. I think any reason for a chicken to cross the road has to be ridiculous, what intelligent reason does a chicken have to cross the road?[Citation Needed] wrote:I dream of a day when the actual reason isn't completely retarded or completely smartass.WhiteCrestAngel wrote:I dream of a day where chickens can cross a road without having their motives put into question...

It seems New York does recognise gay marriage from other states (yay), but I believe a majority don't.Chinmaster wrote:I think New York recognizes the marriages/unions even if they don't perform them
