One day, deep in Forestton, Peter was doing absolutely nothing of interest. He was just being a dumb fox. He was probably disappointing my parents or something. I don't know.
Then, he saw something interesting...

"How have I never noticed that before"

And liars.
ANYWAYS
"I knew I should have fixed that before...." He turned to Zang, still with his welding mask down. "Who are you, exactly?" As Zang began to shift the shelf into a corner, he quickly interjected, "Careful, don't bump that." he instructed, motioning towards a large glass cylinder filled with a silver liquid. "Don't touch it, either, that silver stuff is poisonous if the glass breaks, and it's pretty fragile. Actually, I think the best idea is to not touch anything." He began to shift through several devices and a pile of what one would normally guess was junk, but looked right at home in the old shack.Zang wrote:But I'm gonna need some help... Zang suddenly turns his head to a crash in a nearby shed and runs over to see some kind of engineer with a shelf fallen on him.
"You okay?" Zang asks, lifting the shelf off of him.

Zang glanced at one of the larger structures, a series of metal supports holding up two of the silver tubes similar to the ones leaning against the wall. 'Wha-" he began, before being cut off by the man in the welding mask. "That is a device I found when I was still...not hiding in a shed. I've never figured out how it worked, or what it did, as the entire outside was burned up when I first found it. I've been working on re-making it in some form, as you can see." He gestured towards the pod-like metal shell he had been welding before the shelf had fallen on him.
"Now, who are you again?"

Name: Qepp
Age: Irrelevant
Abilities: Has an assortment of futuristic devices mainly consisting of tools, navigation stuff and a couple weapons. Able to hover over any solid or liquid terrain.
Personality: Good natured but slow to trust new people. Hates demons with a passion.
Other: Does not know (currently) any language but his own.

"What are you-" the man cut himself off as the tubes began to spin, slowly rotating, then accelerating. As the tube spun, they began to glow slightly, brightening with each spin. "We have to turn this thing off!" he yelled, as it sped faster and faster. Suddenly, there was an overwhelming "CRACK" form the machine, and bursts of electricity began to shoot out, and a small sphere of energy began to form between the tubes.

As a last resort, the man grabbed a large wrench from the floor, and threw it directly at one of the tubes, causing it to shatter with a spray of glass and silver liquid. The energy ball dissipated, the electrical bolts stopped, and the shed grew quiet. "Remember when I said that I didn't know what it did? Well, that's only half true, as I knew it did that. I'm not sure what THAT is, though. But it seems dangerous enough, and I don't want to see what it does with nothing between me and it." He unscrewed the shattered remnants of the tube, and replaced them with one from the floor. "Oh, and my name's Palenque. Or at least, that's what I go by. But anyways, I think we may want to get out of here, as that little "incident" most likely will attract some attention, and I would rather not have that." He grabbed a small backpack from the wall, stuffed a few things in, and stepped out the door. "So, you have any ideas of where to go? I'm free at the moment."

Paul woke up one day after a long night of listening to Neutral Milk Hotel. How he wished he could be a world famous musician just like Jeff Mangum. Paul crawled out of his bed and lolled around until he happened to end up at his sink. Brushing his teeth and washing his face, Paul remembered he had a mysterious package delivered to him while he was intoxicated with Mangum's beautiful voice. He bounced down the stairs and found the package was still sitting on the dining room table, where he had last left it. Paul opened the package, which contained a thick book titled, "The Seven Keys to Your Heart's Desire". He skimmed around the book, which detailed a perilous quest attempted by only the most heroic and valorous warriors every millennium. But most importantly, the reward was whatever your heart desired (obviously). Paul swallowed up the book's tales and promises, blinded by his DESIRE to become just like Jeff Mangum. He sets out of his meager home in Porton, hangs a "Closed" sign on the local Gamestop he runs, and heads off for ADVENTURE.

Assuming character portraits aren't necessary (just assume generic ninja), nor is it too late, here I am.
Name: Perry Guyson
Age: ?? (not relevant)
Abilities: Is a ninja, with ninjutsu, smoke pellets, etc. Hides his true form behind his mask. Also a great swimmer.
Personality: is calculating, but not cold. enjoys lazing about.
After traveling to Porton from across the ocean/sea, he got some jobs ninjaing. On one of them, he happened to have him overhear someone talking about "seven keys" that will "lead to your hearts desire". Intrigued, he left to search for these keys.

"Well" Zang began as the two walked out the door, "I'm not really sure where I'm going yet, all I know is that I'm off to find the 'Seven Keys to your Heart's Desire'. Apparently, anyone who finds all seven gets their heart's desire, and if that kinda wish falls into the wrong hands, we could be in trouble. So I'm going to go find them before the wrong person does, or at least make sure they're used properly." he explained.

"The keys are supposedly hidden across the world" Zang explained, "But from what I know about hidden artifacts, is that they are usually hidden in places that are important, or really old, Like the windmill in Windmon for example. Since it's the nearest, that should be the first place we look."

The two finally arrive in Windmon, ready for rest and something to eat. "Say, Palenque" Zang says, turning to him, "what would you wish for if you got the seven keys?"
*Note: I forgot to add that he ripped a small device out of the wire-filled center of the machine, and the small device is the core of the thingymahwhatsit
"Well, I'm not really sure. I never really think about that kinda stuff. Maybe the ability to shapeshift? Nah, that wouldn't be... he sat down, mumbling to himself, and lifted up his mask. the face underneath was pretty much as normal as a face could get, ignoring a few small cuts, burns and marks from experimenting. "Maybe some sort of machine capable of...I don't know, insane things that wouldn't normally be possible or at least, easy to do. Teleporting. Shapeshifing. That sort of thing. Yeah, that would be good." jamming his mask into the bag, he pulled out a beige hat and placed it on his head. "Wishes aside, let's find a hotel or inn of some sort."
