Samus was drifting through space. Ridley finally got the upper hand and she was stuck in space with limited oxygen and a weary body. As Samus was about to black out, she caught a glimpse of a older gentleman, dressed is a stylish blue suit and carrying a suitcase. The next thing she remembered was her on a make-shift bed, somewhere in what seemed like a sewer.
"There he is!'" Yelled a voice "get our provisions ready, he'll need it more than us!". The space bounty hunter was beyond confused. She cried out "Um, hello? Excuse me where am I, who are you people?"
"Not important right now lady, just wait right there, we'll be with you in a moment"Said an older looking man in a blue jumpsuit.
Suddenly, a giant hovercraft drove in through the small cave-like opening.
"Freeman!We've been expecting you, here's our groups provisions,ammo,health-packs.."
Gordon just nodded and shook the man's hand, not saying a word. He was about to speed away but a solid figure with covered in orange armor caught his eye.
"You!You, your the one G-man told me about..."

"Quickly, get on, the Combine is on my trail and I need to get to our headquarters."
"I don't even know who you are or where I am"
"You're in Awkward Zombie territory and Merlin has just taken over, now please, on the hovercraft"
The answer did nothing to help Samus, but she figured wherever he was taking her was better than this rusted sewer pipe. Reluctantly, she got on and Freeman raced the boat through an opening.
A solid 15 minutes went on without any major interruption (only some monotonous puzzles) and Samus started to become worried.
"Hey, what is 'Awkward Zombie', who's Merlin, what's happening?!"
"Look, I'm not good with words so just believe what I tell you."
Samus nodded in agreement
"Alright then, well, not too long ago Merlin was part of the mysterious group called the 'Moderators'."
"The moderators was split into 6 people. Merlin, Bear Police, Miss Starseed, Spoony, Varn,and Zomnambulist. Zomnambulist served and the 'leader' of the group, she..."
"It was a she?"
"Yes, now she personally appointed all the Moderators, ones she thought she could trust and rely on.Apparently, Merlin and Spoony were trusted with guarding Awkward Zombie from those who would harm it, both inside and outside. Everything was working out great for the first few years, that is until recently..."
"What happened?"
"It was Merlin, Merlin murdered Zomnambulist."

This is just amazing, but I would have written the beginning in the classic fashion of Metroid games; Samus loses all of her abilities and must regain them in new forms relevant to the environment she's been marooned on. Just think: HEV Suit Samus. (I.E. the Power Suit is recovered from a Combine ship in heavily damaged condition with only the base functions remaining. Dr. Kleiner repairs it with new upgrades such as the a Zero-Point Energy Cannon and a cool Half-Life-themed spin on the suit design in general.) As they take on the menace that is Merlin, she regains her abilities by salvaging components from Hunters/Striders/Drop Ships/etc.

Basically, an excuse for me to draw up some really cool stuff.
