News reports indicated the family refused to discuss the circumstances of the pregnancy but the girl was reportedly raped and the sexual abuse has been reported to the police.

A reporter with a Russian newspaper who reportedly obtained access to the hospital twice indicated the girl looked older than nine, but was not able to confirm that one way or the other.

China takes sexual violence seriously and any sex with a minor under the age of 14 is automatically considered rape and results in a long prison sentence.

That the girl would ultimately give birth is surprising given that hospitals in China regularly do abortions on young girls -- with some reports suggesting 30 percent of all abortions are done on them.

The London Daily Mail indicates the Chinese girl is on par with two others who were very young and gave birth.

A 5-year-old in Peru reportedly gave birth in 1939 after becoming a victim of sexual assault and a 9-year-old, also in Peru, gave birth to a baby girl in 1957. Oddly, a third Peruvian girl aged 9 gave birth in 2006.

Several other girls aged nine, from Thailand, Singapore, Rwanda and Brazil, have also given birth, the Daily Mail indicated.

I don't know about you, but I'm a bit disgusted right now. What are your thoughts on this?

Actually I think it was five. In 1939, I think a five year old had a baby.

Being to 4chan for a decent part of my life has pretty much hardened me to this kind of stuff.
That being said, it's gotta be tough going into high school when your son's going to elementary school. =_=;

Because my day had no sadness in it so fate was all "Oh let's change that".

God I remember hearing the youngest mother was 8 and the youngest father was 9 (I learned this in 5th grade but obviously that's not true. You can imagine how much that freaked me out because up till then I always thought only adults had kids.)

I also recall having my discovery of a pedophile around that age too.

Man those defining moments in your childhood when your innocence is destroyed is the worst. I can't imagine when that happens to you in the most traumatic way possible at such a young age, like with that poor 5 year old.
