Pretty much anything that starts with "The Haunting Of.." is guaranteed to be crap.
Especially if it's based off of a "true" story.

If you mean when they remake Foreign movies (and generally make them suck), that happened to "A Tale of Two Sisters". Fairly recently, actually. It's called "The Uninvited" (I think).
