Well, Im anti-theist, so Id say yes, but for the argument itself, religions are philosophical ideals that have to be taught. Sexual and gender identity is tied to your biology, and the only thing that can have some effect on that is psychological trauma.

Since when was any part of this except the last 8 words true? I certainly haven't always been attracted to guys, and there is no biological link to homosexuality in the least. Different trans* people have different views on this, but there also isn't a genetic link to being trans* either.

Alright then, so instead of otherkin and trans/gay, what is the difference between accepting that somebody believes they are otherkin and that somebody believes in a god?

Believing you are a species you're not is an obvious and potentially harmful delusion. It would probably be for the best to seek professional assistance in this case.
Wanting to be a species you're not will probably be the result of underlying psychological issues such as depression. Again, seek professional help.

How is it harmful? Otherkin are completely aware of the fact that they are in human bodies and have obligations in a human society that they are expected to follow.
Why shouldn't I tell somebody who is gay or believes in a god to seek professional help then?

Well, like I said before, Im anti-theist, so to me, BOTH are dangerous delusions, one is just more socially accepted than the other.

I'm going to say this so that the argument doesn't get cyclical, but a lot of the things you're saying about Otherkin are what people said about homosexuality/transgender people in the past.
Not that I don't agree with you, if you seriously think you're a cat or something and attempt to use your identity to get out of doing things, you need to go to therapy, but keep in mind you're saying the same things as people in the past did, but with a newer phenomenon.
Also, TheStranger, calling people delusional in any capacity is a dick move.

Yeah, you know what, I should probably just back out of this argument, I dont think Im going to be able to offer any constructive arguments now.

Because homosexuals are still a genuinely oppressed minority who suffer quite a bit
Every Otherkin I've ever seen tend to be upper-middle class white kids who found an outlet in Tumblr

Do you actually know that
Did you actually go and find out somewhere that otherkin are mainly upper-middle class white kids

Fixed my wording to be more appropriate to what I meant to say, my apologies

How is that any different from saying "Every gay guy I've ever seen tend to be a fruity, flamboyant, high-pitched guy who found an outlet from daddy not loving him"

Otherkin tend to base their knowing what animals they actually are on anthropomorphic animals from comics and cartoons.
All those wolf otherkin who talk about how "honorful and majestic" wolves are even though that's just some humanly perceived crap from fiction, like the smart owl, the sly fox and the conniving snake.
So when they say they're "animal X" what they actually mean is they want to be like what humans from hundreds of years ago thought animals would be like if they were human.
Besides, being Trans* is something a human can conceivably be. There are things that can happen in the mother womb that make you look like one sex while your chromosomes and other stuff that's not visible points to the other. There was a discussion about it on the questionable content forum a while back when a character told the main character she is trans*. There's a lot of biological aspects that can lead to you being the wrong gender.
Being the wrong species, not so much. Even less if it's a fictional species. Being supposed to come out as a wolf or sparkledragon and somehow becoming a human in a human womb is not how biology works.

Either way, I'm stepping out of this argument before the rhetoric gets any worse
You believe that Otherkin are an oppressed minority, Unbalanced
I do not

There's a difference between otherkin and upstanding members of society right? Like there is probably overlap but they aren't always one and the same. I say this because upstanding members of society generally make themselves very easy targets.
