I've got the encounters set up, but there's a problem. There's only enough experience in all the encounters to get a group of four halfway to the second level. I guess I'm going to tack on an XP bonus at the end, and maybe a bonus for completing some of these encounters without violence.

Haha you think that a first session should gain people levels.
Maybe it's different in 4.0, but unless the session goes on for a REALLY long time, you won't gain a level in the first session.

The Keep on the Shadowfell dungeon that comes standard with 4E expects a group of three to be level 4 by the time they finish. But my thing is rather short, and I'm pretty much playing this by ear anyway. I expect them to be level 2 after the final encounter.
