Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
I didn't get fired just yet.
Went to work this morning.
A customer spilled a considerable amount of gas.
No big deal, but I better follow procedure.
I haven't been trained for this, so I complete the sale and look at the 'emergency procedures' poster on the wall. It's mostly for show.
1. Hit the emergency shut-off switch. The switch has been broken long before I started working.
2. Instruct customers not to start their engines. A man is already filling up at that very same pump with his car ever-so-cheerfully running.
3. Assist victims by washing off any gas from their body, especially the face. The customer has already paid and left with shoes full of gas.
Use emergency eyewash station if necessary. Eyewash station? We... we have a sink and a garden hose if that's what you mean...
4. Arrange to transport victims to hospital if necessary. How convenient! The hospital is right across the street!
5. Clean up spill with appropriate amounts of absorbent material. I didn't know where it was, so I called up the boss. "Just put some de-icing salt on that fucker."
This store could not give any less of a shit.
