My dad found a 51" 1080p plasma TV that comes with a whole bunch of fancy schmancy stuff like 3D-ivision and Blu-ray for just about $1000. We're still not sure if we ought to buy it, but currently we don't have a fully-functioning TV right now which is why we're looking at TVs in the first place.
