It's a good way to test people's faith too; I mean - if they really believe the world is gonna end tomorrow - why do they need any of their cheddar or possessions?Taruta wrote:I should make bets with people who are serious about ze end of ze world.
Bet it all baby; If the world don't end tomorrow all their cheddar belongs to me!
Get those lawyers in; Sign those contracts; Make it legit.
Watch the doom prophecies end.

I'd be set for life and get so much swag, too bad no one around here is radical about the whole situation.

That says it all for me.Wikipedia wrote:The 2011 end times prediction made by Christian radio host Harold Camping states that the Rapture (in premillennial theology, the taking up into heaven of God's elect people) will take place on May 21, 2011... Camping previously claimed that the world would end in September 1994.

Did you see the equations and everything he used to arrive at May 21st, though? This dude went through a lot of trouble just to con people out of cheddar.

Yeah, you pull enough random numbers/dates/figures out of a book and you can come up with an equation that gives you a result that you want.Exeres wrote:Did you see the equations and everything he used to arrive at May 21st, though? Oh Richie D; You such a card!Wikipedia wrote:Evolutionary biologist and atheist Richard Dawkins dismissed Camping's prediction, writing that "he will inevitably explain, on May 22nd, that there must have been some error in the calculation, the rapture is postponed to . . . and please send more cheddar to pay for updated billboards."

I usually find Dawkins to be an inexcusable prick.
But I had to laugh at that.

A lot of the atheists in the media only seem to be noteworthy because they go out of their way to antagonise the religious looneys.Exeres wrote:I usually find Dawkins to be an inexcusable prick.
It's funny that I share my surname with him but I'm not sure if I'm even related to him (distant or otherwise).

They wouldn't be famous if they would not believe quietly. Shouting angrily at people = $$$$$$
Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
Mostly because, like Exeres said, a lot of us are perfectly content to distance ourselves from the extremists. Not that it does much when people still manage to lump us together. I'm getting a little tired of the Westboro Baptist Church claiming to be Christian.
Stuff goes here later.
Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
Why has no one realised that the way to stop all these end of the world predictions is to ignore them and not give them media coverage?
