His creepy, stalker, overbearing love.

So according to Time magazine, scientists have figured out a way that could possibly make humans immortal.
Right now the method is only being tested on mice, but if all goes as planned, we will be able to stop aging/ reduce our age and live forever by the year 2045.

Immortality?
I'll pass on living forever, thanks. Sure it may seem like a great idea, but I don't like it. I'm willing to accept the time I've already been granted here.

Very interesting, but 2 problems:
1. If you upload your consciences to a computer, you won't live for ever, a digital clone of you might live forever.
2. Exponential growth has it's limit and is approaching it. Computing power has been able to increase mainly because of size reduction of processor chips. However, you can't make a conducting line on a chip thinner than a single atom with current technology. That would require a giant leap in understanding and controlling quantum mechanics and probably a complete overhaul of how computer chips work. A technological advancement like that probably isn't due in at least another 100 years, if we do ever reach that point.

What theyre doing is using telomerase to stop telomeres at the end of chromosomes from dying

Then think about the long term demographic impact.Valbrandur wrote:Immortality sure doesn't sound bad to me.
Edit: @Wordsmith
I also feel I should clarify this post a bit, I don't mean I'm against science pursuing immortality, I mean that everyone should consider the demographic, economic and ethic impacts this might have.
