Today my boss got out of her office and walked straight to my desk to give me her dessert (crêpes with the best maple syrup I've ever tasted) because she didn't feel like eating sweet food. I like my job.

I had a winter day (snow/cold day) today.

First night driving in the snow. Holy shit it was terrifying.

Not having to deal with icy roads is one of the very, very few things I don't mind about Florida. Of course there was that one day three years ago but not counting the freak occurrences, it's a non-issue.

Fun story, I drove thirteen miles to find that we'd closed shop for the day, so I had to drive back home immediately afterward. Lost count of how many times my truck started fishtailing.

I drove pretty slow so I didn't really have too many problems. The only really scary part is I was following my coworker and she got scared going up the big booty hill in our town and just stopped and turned her emergency lights on. Since she stopped, I had to stop too. some guys came and helped her out, but since my car is rear wheel drive, it was a fucking bitch to get it going without sliding down the hill. And then after that, I was nervous the whole way so it made me more scared than it would have if I didn't have to stop. Also, when I got out to ask my coworker what happened, another lady that was behind us just drove past in the other lane in a big booty truck and yelled "You bunch of babies, just go."

Pretty shitty experience altogether, I think I'll call in to work tomorrow if the roads aren't any better.

Honestly, stopping on an icy hill is more dangerous than not stopping. Trying to get that traction back is a window of opportunity for a lot of things to go wrong.


Put a bag of cat litter in your trunk, and maybe a shovel. If you ever start spinning your wheels, get a load of cat litter under them to give yourself some traction.

And don't get studded tires. Studs are good only for ice--in slush and normal snow, they make things WORSE. And they tear up the roads.
