Re: All topics unimportant enough to not create a thread for
We adopted a kitty yesterday! His name is Tony and he is still hiding while he gets used to our apartment and figures out that there's nothing scary here. I just wish I could lure him out form under the bed with food, he's actually pop flyin' with us petting him but he has barely eaten over the past day.
He did wake us up at like 5 am meowing for food though so I think he ate a little bit.
He's also a hide-and-seek master, this morning we found him in a tiny hole underneath the dishwasher that we didn't even know existed. We managed to flush him out and plug up that hole now.

i highly recommend a feeding schedule - it helps prevent obesity and allows you to know 100% when and how much he eats so you can catch illness more quickly. and a high quality food! eat less per meal so bags last longer, better health, softest fur in the world, less awful poops = win.
if you find he screams at the door in the mornings, the best thing to do honestly to ignore him. even if it's obnoxious as fuck. works best if you have a bathroom attached to your room so you can do your morning routine for work/school/etc without leaving the room. even if you don't feed him, opening the door is a 'reward.' fortunately in my experience it has only taken a max of 3 days to break any cat of door crying.
my other Advice invest in lots of scratchy things - mine particularly love those cardboard scratchy things. handmade, expensive cat tree? meh. $5 piece of cardboard? holy shit best thing ever. same for boxes. why buy expensive toys when box is free? the little dangly thing on a stick toys are also the best daisies thing ever.
that is the end of my Professional Cat Advice and now you must post photos

I'm waiting for someone to visit Shazza and realize all of her pets amount to various animal incarnations of Dry Bones.

Yeah we're keeping a schedule, he's just always hiding during feeding time. This morning we tried to pour his food right in front of him so he can figure out that we're doing it (I guess? lol). He actually came out for a bit at night and jumped up on the bed and hung out with us for a bit. Current theory is that he likes us (and he likes scritches a LOT), he's just still unsure of the apartment. Any time there's a weird noise he goes back to hiding.
Right now we're keeping his food bowl in the bedroom where he is, and we have a closet that connects to the bathroom where his litterbox is. He definitely ate a tiny bit of wet food that we gave him. I think he'll be okay as long as we keep him in those rooms for a few days so he doesn't get overwhelmed.
Edit: I'll try to get a picture when he's not hiding in the shadows, lol. Stay tuned

Anyone ever notice that basically all mammal babies look the same before their fur grows in?

It's fine, I'm sure people would think of animate skeleton pets as adorable in their own way. No one's gonna judge.shazza wrote:(me, quickly running to the shelter to find animals that look remotely like how i've described my pets) n......no!
I mean people enjoy hairless cats, why not skinless too?

trust me there is a total difference of horror between skinless and a skeleton......skinless cats look like goblins. i know. i've had six of em on my table. what would be cooler is the animated skin - just the skin. but not like flopping everywhere i mean like imagine a sheet ghost but instead of a sheet it's a hide.

All I can think of are those sad thin sheets of shaped silicone like the balls and cubes, but just being animal shaped and rolling around aimlessly
What about animated hair and eyes? I'd love a big poofy cat that was basically a mop with googly eyes.

i already have one of those it's called a lionhead rabbit:

this is actually a tame amount of hair too right now he's in winter coat and you can't even tell he has a face
but show line persians are probably the closest you'll get to a googly-eyed hairball....but unfortunately they're like, y'know, persians.

lovely personalities, horrifying deformity

So uh... tried duck for the first time thanks to an Asian restaurant. I liked it, but I can't finish it...
Also, if anyone was wondering what I've been doing without internet access for the past couple of days, I've memorized how to solve a Rubik's Cube.
Hey, better to continuously scramble and solve a cube than to bite nails.
