I'm doing something different and making my own fries from fresh-cut potatoes. Really hoping it turns out at least comparable to the frozen bagged ones.
Assuming I don't set the house on fire again.

What I've found works best is to fry them at a lower temperature to cook the potatoes through (so the insides are tender and floofy starch), and then, after they've cooled off and dried a little, refrying them at a higher temperature to crisp the outsides.

My fryer doesn't have temperature settings. So I started the initial cooking process with heating them in boiling water for a few minutes, and I'm going to finish them off in the fryer.

Okay, if you haven't gotten to the oil yet, you might already know this, but make very sure you have the surface of the potatoes as dry as possible before you fry them. Otherwise it'll be like when you try to flush a hot bacon pan, except possibly more oilsplodey.

No worries. No oil has been flung about.
In other news, they turned out okay. Not as great as they could have been, but not as bad as my last attempt at hand-making fries five years ago in which I didn't touch cooking oil again until a few months ago.
I need to cut the potatoes more evenly and thinner, next time.

Its a type or style of house like a colonial, ranch, split level, manor etc. Its nothing to do with being white, its architecture.

it's specifically a single-story house with dormer windows and a porch, but it's not specifically a style of house? like you can have a colonial or post-modern bungalow. but bodaciously the only people i have ever heard use the word bungalow have been on hgtv lmao. it just has that ...aura to me i guess.
