Oh my god what?
I....didn't realize not having kids was paramount to sinning against the Lord.
I'm also not interested in kids for any number of reasons, chiefly because I'm already leading an expensive life after failing at college the first time around and transitioning(at some point in the future.... :/ ), but also for reasons of overpopulation, a desire to be able to do the things I want to do more freely without being tied down to a kid, my own lack of disciplinary skills, and general disinterest.

it's more that children are seen as like god's ultimate gift or some shit like that and if you don't have any then what is the point of your life lmao
these are also the people that pressure girls into getting married incredibly young for various reasons, kids being one. i've bodaciously had girls tell me that they feel like they're worthless old maids because they're 21 and don't have a boyfriend yet like holy booty woman have some self respect and self worth, jesus. but that's bodaciously the culture. graduate high school, get married immediately to p much whatever guy will accept (then be stuck in the marriage whether it's good or not because divorce is Evil and only if he cheats or hits you,) then bust out some kids, more than you want most likely because birth control is evil and apparently condoms are Hard.
the church can eat my entire pansexual nonbinary fornicating non-childbearing asshole lmao
anyway im going to renfest this weekend and i'm Very Stressed because i am trying to buy some rabbits from a guy and he's bringing them here but i won't be here so a friend is getting them and im just praying to whoever will listen that this guy fucking communicates because if i gotta drive 8 hours to where the rabbit guy lives im going to shit
also my anxiety is making my ocd Bad and im having a hard time doing some errands because i have a thing about needing more than one reason to go to an area and i need to go to the bank which is 5 minutes away but that's all i need to do there and why is this so fucking hard :(

On the topic of children, the funny thing is that most first world nations have had dropping birth rates for decades and are looking at a population crash due to an aging workforce of baby boomers not being properly replaced by their children and grandchildren. Japan, thanks to its isolated location, cultural racism and restrictive society are already starting to feel the pinch and will have to start importing population within a few generations.

Which is why I can't wait till we start mass-producing sentient robots to replace puny humans so that nobody has to work unless they draft us all into slavery
It's time to live in a sci-fi world already

it's kind of a funny catch-22. we aren't having kids in large part because they're expensive and we can barely feed ourselves, but not having children will undoubtedly make the economy harsher, driving us to continue not having kids. maybe by the time the old people die off we'll have finally done something about a living wage and people can start affording children again?
it does feel a lot like more of our generation just...doesn't want kids though. maybe because we're more selfish because what little cheddar we get we almost have to use to treat ourselves because surplus is so few and far between. or maybe it's just because i surround myself with people of like mind, and any friendships from the past i have with people who do end up having kids end up dying off because kids change a dynamic so much that a lot of times it's difficult to keep it going.

See, though, we're privileged enough to KNOW that we can't afford kids and/or don't feel capable of raising them. How many people do you know who sure as hell shouldn't be able to afford all the expenses that come with kids but have them anyway?
I think it's more a matter of education instead of actual economic status (though they're closely related), and folks like us in the more developed countries are more likely to be educated in how babbies are made as well as have higher expectations of the commitment involved in having kids. And more educated folks are more willing to shirk traditions and do things because they want to do them, not because "oh everybody has kids, it's just what you do". I do agree our generation has some unique aftereffects from the economic downturn, but I think there's an overall trend too, away from the traditional "have a ton of kids" beliefs.
In the long run, globally, falling birthrates are a good thing because overpopulation, carrying capacity, etc. And as developing countries get more educated their birthrates will eventually drop too. But things like taxes and social security will have to be adjusted to match, and who knows how that's gonna pan out.

oh for sure, i was referring to the 'first world country' comment. we are generally more wealthy than most of the world (though as stated before it's still not enough to live comfortably in this economy,) and have better education, access to healthcare and sex education, birth control, etc. generally the people i know that have kids but probably shouldn't either really wanted them and thus made the sacrifices necessary to be able to do so, or they were that case of 'accidentally got pregnant and have familiars or they themselves are staunchly against abortion so were forced to have the baby' and typically the family helps the mom out with it or she marries the dad and they do scenario one.
i kinda wonder if overpopulation is related to the general shift away from having children. like in a subconcious kind of way. like, again look at japan: their population issue has been ongoing for years, and now nobody is having kids.
IN OTHER NEWS
y'all wanna see something really gross and related to my gross hobby? because i butchered some rabbits yesterday and some weird shit happened to one of them.

I know that frog legs will start moving if you salt them while cooking, maybe that rabbit had a lot of sodium or something in its diet?

My thoughts on population stuff is that we're steadily veering towards Idiocracy and I don't know how to feel about that
But maybe it's because it's 2:19 AM and I don't know how to feel about anything beyond tired
