I am uncertain about what to do with my roommate. We friends, at least I thought we were. A couple weeks ago she suddenly became horrifically mean and rude to me. I tried to talk to her about it several times, but to no avail. Last week I was hanging out with a friend of mine, we were working on some organic chemistry lab questions and she comes home from work and proceeds not only to be horrendously rude not only to me, but to my guest as well. Unfortunately my desk is situated right next to the door, so I have to move my chair out of the way when she needs to go in and out of the room. She says, "you need to figure something else out." I tell her that unfortunately there is no other place in the room to put my desk, since space is very limited, and there really isn't much that I can do. She screams, "UGH IT'S JUST A JOKE WHY ARE YOU YELLING" and leaves the room to take a shower (of course, there were other bits of conversation around this, but this is the most prominent one I can remember at the moment). My friend looks at me and says, "holy shit, she is horrifically rude."
I figured it was just a fluke, she had a bad day at work. However, now she simply refuses to speak to me. I try to tell her good morning or good bye when she goes to class, and she completely ignores me. I repeat myself since I think she didn't hear me, and she gives me a look that essentially says she thinks I'm being stupid and waves me away.
I'm finally sick of it. The only thing I can think of is to not talk to her until she finally gets out of this stupid mood. There are few things I cannot stand, and rudeness is one of them. If she can't even tell me what I may have done wrong, then I just don't care.

If you haven't asked her what it is you've done to upset her, you could always try the direct approach of straight-up asking her what it is you've done to upset her.
If she's just in a bad mood I doubt you'll get much of a response though.

Oh no, I've asked her several times. She just won't say anything.

Fucking dishwasher won't start. It's got itself set in a lock mode where the heat dry button is and its been like that for 2 days. I don't know if or where a reset button is and no button combo does anything.

In the efficiency my mom's staying at you HAVE to handwash the dishes as there is no dishwasher.
There is also no oven. It's annoying.
So I just handwashed all the dishes for her OTL

She's paying for your home, paying for your food, paying for your education.
When that perspective is put on it, washing the dishes for her becomes no big deal.
