Really? Do you have to get some crazy kind of retainer?

I was so pop flyin' when I got mine off. It's been... years. About three now, methinks. Having a retainer isn't that bad. Just make sure you don't accidentally throw them away.

I've had multiple retainers and multiple braces, and really, I preferred the retainers. At least you can take them out.
Then again, I only had to wear them at night, so they never really bothered me.

The only thing I've got left now is a small piece of wire behind my lower jar's front teeth, though.
God I hope I'm not getting the names mixed up here. We just call both braces and retainers "Zahnspange" and I'm not exactly sure which is which.

Braces are the actual brackets and metal ON your teeth. Retainers are just little molds of your mouth with a wire around them to keep your teeth straight. From what you said, it looks like you were talking about a retainer. So yeah, you got it right.

I have a clear retainer that you just pop over your teeth, no wires, just plastic molds. I only have to wear it at night though.
