Well, two reasons.

a. I am very, very terrified of eye drops. My eye doctor just skips dilating my eyes, it just... doesn't happen. Ever.

b. Apparently your eye is a giant joint and I'm at increased risk for dry eyes, so I'd probably tear off some kind of membrane when using them. My mom knew someone who did this, it did not end well.

My sister in laws sleeps with her eyes half open. Once she fell asleep with her contacts in and the exposed half dried up and cut her cornea.
