I thought Rice Ball was the English translation for Onigiri.
What's a rice ball then?
There's a name for them in Korea, and they're basically doughy balls filled with a very, very sweet sauce.

Unrelated: There are also rice balls in Italy. They are either deep-fired or baked, and have an assortment of fillings in them. I had one a while, ago. It was tasty.

I have bird balls, developed by Xzibit's long lost Italian ancestor

You know, I'm not that big of an anime fan, I usually manage to watch one series through every 1-2 years. And hell, while I do tend to prefer subbed Anime over dubbed Anime, it's really not a big deal either way. But what pisses me off, really pisses me off, isn't when they try to censor violence, or sex, or even completely rewrite an Anime to make it for a child audience instead of an teen or adult audience (I'm looking at you One Piece). After all, there are cultural differences between countries, and while Japan doesn't have a problem with nude child characters on a genuine children's show (Example: Digimon), America has a big problem with that, and I don't see anything wrong with censoring that. Now other shows that they do that too, like One Piece, or Sailor Moon, or whatever, hey, that's kinda stupid, it's a teenage show, and you are trying to remake it into a children's show. Why do that when there are plenty of children's anime available to translate for children's shows that require a lot less editing to make it socially acceptable? But no, that isn't what really pisses me off. What really pisses me off, isn't the censoring of violence or sex, as is needed to maintain a particular rating from the FCC. No, what pisses me off, is when they censor COMPLETELY FUCKING RANDOM AND ARBITRARY THINGS WHICH ARE IN NO WAY OFFENSIVE, PURELY OUT OF A XENOPHOBIC ATTITUDE TOWARDS STUFF THAT ISN'T AMERICAN. For jesus fuck Christ's sake, do we REALLY need to censor rice balls into doughnuts? IT'S FUCKING RICE BALLS! What is the worst possible thing that could happen from a child seeing rice balls being eaten by their favorite anime character? Hey, maybe they'll be all like "Ash Ketchum is so COOOL, and he's eating rice balls, I wanna eat some too!" WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE SO BAD ABOUT THAT? HEY! NOW THE KID IS EATING SOMETHING HEALTHY INSTEAD OF SHOVELING SODA, CHEETAHS, AND DOUGHNUTS INTO HIS GIANT OBESE LARDBUCKET OF A BODY! But no, rice balls are too offensive. We can't possibly introduce a child to a type of food which comes from a foreign nation and is actually food. NO! TWINKIES AND SUNNY-D FOR CHILDREN ONLY! NO FOOD FOR YOU! ONLY ARTIFICIAL FOOD-LIKE SUBSTANCES!
MOTHER OF FUCK!
1: Nudity would be censored from close to
anything shown before 9:00PM. Sexual themes are more lax, but still not a good idea if it's not
specifically for teenage to adult audiences (One Piece still counts here). But yeah, pretty much the entirety of violence censors is uncalled for. Blame 4Kids
2: Changing something from a different culture to a Western one doesn't count as censorship, it counts as executive meddling. Basically, it's on the premise that more people would relate to them. I mean, very few Westerners would know what a rice ball is.
....it's not a sound premise, though. Nobody really cares about what a character eats, unless it works as the equivalent of Scooby Snacks (eg: Ryuk and apples)
3: 'Artificial food-like substances'? I lol'd!

Just what is Artificial, exactly? Aren't any natural foods - unless raw and ungutted - influenced in some way or another by other products by a farmer or butcher? Unless you chose to eat wild berries and wild animals, there isn't anything that hasn't been in one way or another manufactured or has been influenced by manufacture? For example, artificial insemination

When I say artificial, I mean something that has no nutritional value (not factoring vitamin enrichment) and doesn't belong in your digestive system.
Like Twinkies.
Basically I use it as a synonym for "simulated food".

When the words "All natural" or "No artificial [FILL IN THE BLANK]" appear in a commercial, it means nothing.
I once bought a bottle of honey that was labeled all natural, not thinking about it. Then I got home and tasted it and was like "WTF THIS ISN'T HONEY" and I looked at the ingredients, and it was like "Water, Caramelized Sugar" as the two ingredients... AKA, yes, it was all natural ingredients, but it wasn't actually honey, and it tasted like garbage.
I've grown into the habit of reading the ingredient list of stuff I buy, cause I'm tired of wasting my cheddar on crap like that.

Natural foods are ones that aren't created in a lab, but extracted from a plant or animal. Which is to say, there's absolutely no difference to the food in question, it just means the company can say they use only natural ingredients.
Although that's for food in general. For some individual food types (such as yoghurts), 'natural' means something else.

Like Twinkies.
Umm... wut? Twinkies and such are renowned for having waay too much of some nutrients, such as fat, cholesterol, sodium, and carbohydrates. You can't say they have no nutrients, or that they don't belong in your digestive system, just because the nutrients they do have are ones that a lot of people already get too much of.
...unless you're writing for a girly magazine, of course.

Plasma does it just because he knows I'll argue back. And I argue back because I'm bored.
Seriously, in his last post, he's trying to argue that Twinkies should be a part of people's diets. The positions Plasma will take in order to argue with me are quite funny.

Actually, I only remember arguing with her in two threads.
Also, probably not, no.

Actually, I argue because I feel that if someone is wrong, it's better to correct them now than to let them keep on thinking the wrong thing, making them more grounded in thinking what they know is true.
In other words, I'm an info nerd.
And I didn't say that about Twinkies. What I said is that they had loads of nutrients. You're putting words in my mouth now.
