I had to do close-down on my own last night, which meant I had to take off both the meat counter and the fish counter. I know what I'm doing now though and most things had already been done, so it was a pretty easy night. While I was wrapping up some of the trays, a little kid ran up to the counter, pointed a little Spiderman ray gun toy at me and went "This is best! This is fire!" and then ran off. A little bit later he ran back, pointed it at me again and went "Fire!" and then ran off again. It was adorbable.

Think the "cutest" thing that happened at the restaurant was a mom in the drive-thru telling me that her 5-ish-year old son in the backseat just told her he wanted to be a "La Casita man", him grinning like an idiot in the back seat. The girls were going "D'aaw" and such...I just kept smiling and managed to not respond with "Yeah, no, he really doesn't."

That kinda reminds of the time some family came to the store. There was a kid who was under five with them, and he was wearing a shirt that said "give me a high five". So I got down on one knee and gave him one.

Soooo, work was interesting to say the least this morning. Some teenager, I would assume, couldn't move his arms or legs and he was hyperventilating really badly. I also heard that he had peed blood before hand, so a co-worker thought it could be a kidney or liver thing. He was taken to the hospital, but I do hope he's ok.

And then I learned that the theater where I work is actually haunted! A manager said he saw part of a ghost for a few seconds a few weeks ago, and then this morning, he saw a face and shoulders. He took pictures and I saw it too. It's pretty cool.

Someone came in and turned the tea machine on, I ran out there after my workmate told me water was getting everywhere. The guy just told me it activated itself.

Tea machines don't turn themselves on, and this guy looked to be about 25, with a monotone lazy voice to boot. At least it was just water so cleaning it up was easy. I didnt say anything, I just said its fine and he left.

Officially my least favorite customers who drive up to the window, say FUCKING NOTHING to me, pay with cash so that they have only a few cents in change, and drive off while I'm counting and don't say a goddamn word to me.

Just

say something!

If you don't want your change or receipt, just say so! Don't be a prick about it!

my fav is that at my job we have to ask for the customer's email address every time they have a transaction and when you ask and then they go 'sorry i don't have one' and they're like, my age. like, why can't you just say 'sorry i dont want to' instead of lying to me WHY DO YOU THINK I WILL GET MAD AT YOU FOR NOT WANTING TO GIVE YOUR EMAIL?? IT'S FINE.

DON'T LIE TO ME.

today i wanted to punch my assistant manager and i became very glad that i only have a week left at that place.

i was organizing something and the cashier called for backup. i'm like, third in like for backup but the asst. manager said something like 'are you going up there?' and i thought she was talking to me so i said i was and headed up. as i get up to the register i realize that the 'game plan' (thing that tells you what you do that day,) had me listed for the same register that the cashier was on, so i ask over the walkie what one i should go to. i was told 3, so i went up there. a few seconds later she goes over the walkie and says 'yeah so there's the game plan on register 1 everyone is supposed to look at it and it has what register you're on' and ok first off. i've been working at this company for six fucking months. i know where the game plan is and what it says. you don't have to remind me. but i replied nicely and said that i was listed for register 1 which is why i asked.

and she fucking replied 'if you had stayed on floor like i told you to you wouldn't have to ask' and just BACK UP AND SIT DOWN BITCH THAT WAS COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR. not to mention she never told me to stay on the floor instead of going for the backup call.

i bodaciously said 'oh my god' and rolled my eyes in front of a customer (whoops) because i was like 5,000% done with her and i'd only been at work 20 minutes lmao

then the store manager came over the walkie and was like 'hey now it's never a bad thing to have more cashiers when there's a line'

I work at Carl's Jr.

This group of five kids tried to come through the drive thru and tell me we didn't give them two shakes when they came in an hour and a half ago. I told them to come to the window to get it sorted out. I then asked them what their order was and they told me something really bogus, it was such a simple order that in the past year of working there I have never once seen it. I knew they had never made that order, I had been there for the past few hours and I was in charge so I have to pay attention to all the orders that come through. I even humored them and looked through the computer to find an order that matched it, no dice. So I tell them and all of a sudden their story changed. They didn't order it an hour ago, it was 3. So I told them they needed a receipt and he replied,

"You want me to go home, get the receipt, and come back now really angry where you're gonna need to give me more than a couple shakes?"

I looked him dead in the eye and said, "Yes, you're not getting anything without a receipt."

He said back, "But the customer is always right"

And I told him, "No receipt, no shakes"

He drove away and never came back.

oh yes, being in charge of the place is fantastic!

I spend 8 hours a day being the high commander of a gas station/convenience store. I live to ruin the days of "the customer is always right" people.

I still haven't heard back from SeaWorld.. a friend of mine who had auditioned the same day as I had already got his call. I wonder if they even need me back there.. But I KNOW I did well in the audition, and most people recognized me and remembered me, so I figured they'd like me to come back. Even if it's not as a walk around character but as a Halloween person, I'd be totally okay with that.

I'm getting really worried, I was kind of putting all my eggs in one basket, I guess.. I'll give it a few more weeks until I start looking for another job.

While I was in the training room doing the classes for my new position, the department head for special services asked me if I'd help him with a delivery run.

Apparently one of our people sent the wrong order to a customer, over 50 boxes of tile, each weighing about 58 pounds. We took the correct order, which was 33 boxes of tile, each weighing a little over 66 pounds, plus 19 of the 23 bags of grout, which weighed 50 pounds each.

The two of us had to carry each thing by hand down a hill, into the customer's basement, and bring back one of the 58 pound boxes up the hill to put in the truck.

Two hours, in the sun, in the heat with the temperature likely over 100 °F. Good times.

So a lady called this morning complaining that she came in with a baseball team of 25 at 10PM and demanded that they make her order quickly because it's just 4 sandwiches. She also complained the last four times she came in she had to wait a long time, especially last time saying it took them 40 minutes to make her order. Because she sat 20 minutes in the drive thru line and 20 minutes in the lobby.

She said she's never coming back again. I turned to my manager and told her the exact complaint. My manager looked at me and said, "Good."
