You could put a protective foil on them, I don't know things too well though. But lamination might be an idea? Since it can endure great heat anyways as you have to bake them.



In other news, I am pretty lost. I wanted to finish an old collab I have with Zang, and since this thing originally happened sometime last year after me and princess brothel had a talk with each other about color, I decided to use a limited color palette. Pulling this out again, I decided to try out a monochromatic palette instead, which would look something like this




However, there was a layer from my first idea drafting, and I still liked that one. I decided to shade it just to see how it looks, and to be quite honest I like it a lot more




I know there is a lot going on, but it just feels so much better to me. Its not like I can't see that people might percieve it as clashing or too saturated, but dammit I just love using colors.
My problem isn't related only to this drawing now, I'm feeling torn and worried lately in general. I don't know if I should just keep doing what I love and is the most fun to me, or if I'm as delusional as a 16 year old with their Sonic OCs on deviantArt and actually quite shite and should re-take my artist driver's permit before I end up on Rainbow Road in Mario Kart.

The first example you posted isn't monochromatic, it's a triadic earth tone palette. Monochromatic means that the palette is all in one hue, including black and white (so, something with all blue tones, or all yellow).

It's possible to make something colorful and saturated like the second image without going overboard--picking one or two main colors and then using other colors as small details would help. Looking at your second image, I see three large areas of very different colors--bright blue, teal, and neon orange--and two colors being used as accents (the PANK and the tiny area of yellow). Replacing even one of those colors with a neutral or an earth tone would help to make it look less busy while still keeping it bright and colorful.

In fact, I like the color map you used for the first image. You had three main colors and one accent color, not including your shading effects. Why not try replacing the three main colors in the first image with three colors from the second image? See how that looks.

i meant that the colour rubs off after they're baked when you rub/scratch them so not that great for dog collars or keyrings. according to the manufacturer's site though there's a good amount of lacquer/sealant products that they've tested with good results to protect them and I think I will do that.

I tried it, but either it still feels better in the original colors, or it just falls apart entirely.


Considering I figured out how to take screenshots on my tablet, it's easier now for me to get my values, and after splashing in that layout I decided to just make two versions instead of picking only one.

My problem wasn't that I was indecisive about which palette to pick for this picture, I used it to explain because it was just the current thing being affected by it. I definitely have to admit that I wrote it rather convoluted, my bad.
But that was simpler to take care of than I thought, I should talk to friends more often haha

That's uh, what I also ment. Bake the thing, wait for it to cool down, then laminate it. But since you know that you can use lacquer I'd definitely go with that, it's pretty much the easiest and best solution. But maybe you want to make a few test products first before applying it on a thing you spent a lot of work on, because there might be a chance that the lacquer smears the colors around since they seem to be scratched off so easily.

I know what brown is. It's still not monochromatic. A monochromatic picture would be shaded with the same hue, too.

I'm not sure about those boots tho.

They remind me of Elven Boots in Elder Scrolls...sort of platemailish, which I guess clashes with the rest of her getup a bit.

Then again she looks kinda...Mercenaryish, I think. *shrugs* So it could work easily enough, I'd imagine.

Stranger one of the things I like the most about your comic is how remarkably ugly you make all the people look in them. That's not a criticism of your artistic talent by any means, I mean to say that no matter what race, creed, or gender someone is in your comic you draw them in a very imperfect way, which I find super refreshing.

Some old friends from the OCT days are encouraging me to draw more, been trying to post once a day, even if it's just a face sketch. Today's turned out to be more complicated so I figured it's worth sharing.

Background is pretty haphazard and I was originally gonna leave it looking cartoony and flat. In the end I roughed some fake dimension in with shading. I can do better, but I'm pop flyin' to be drawing for the sake of drawing again.

Sometimes the simplest things turn out having the most value.
Even if it's just a sketch, I love how it turned out.

If you need more to draw, we can always shoo each other around with more collabs :u
