I wanted to draw my new Golduck in B2 using his Cloud Nine ability. I trained him up in the desert and was imagining him bending the sandstorm around us with his new psychic powers and got the idea to try painting that.

I animated the guy from that comic I made a while back- but I cloned him, and now he's everywhere!

Tell me how I did. It's a simple loop animation. Took me 2 hours.
I'm usually not funny.

Today I started working on one of the backgrounds for my animation, which was destined for disaster really, considering my inexperience with drawing backgrounds. :'> And perspective too, which is a little depressing considering I studied Graphics at GCSE and we went through all this stuff sdkhfj

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_md0qo ... 1_1280.png

This was my first attempt and as you can see, it's awful and there's far too much floor space and it looks like the room is shaped weirdly and the perspective is just completely off.

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_md0qo ... 1_1280.png

After a bit of help from my friend, this was my third attempt, and I'm much happier with it.

The finished background itself is gonna be done linelessly, but here's a little colour test, too. If there's still anything that's off then please let me know - as I said, I have very little experience with this sort of thing. @w@

Are these digital from the get-go? it might be worth doing them on paper to start with so that you can make proper use of vanishing points and such.

You should also look at other pieces of animation as reference for the kind of backgrounds they use.

You don't really see long shots like this since if they characters are going to be moving around the perspective will make it difficult to make it look right. You could just have them in the foreground but then they and going to look like they are really part of the set.

Here's some Simpsons as an example.

Yeah, I do most of my drawings with my tablet these days, partly so I can make use of flipping the canvas to double check for errors and things. :'B There's not really going to be a lot of moving around as in walking towards the camera in my animation, since a lot of it is going to be a time-lapse sort of thing, so I'm not sure if that changes anything in regards to difficulty with the perspective? Seeing as though I won't need to animate my character walking to different parts of it or anything. Like I said though, I don't have a lot of experience with backgrounds, so I'm not sure. It's something I still need to work on quite a bit.

If it helps, I have a basic animatic here for what sorts of things I have in mind for the animation, since I'm awful at explaining things.

Ah, alright then. Thanks anyways. :>

In other news, forgot to post this the other day, but here's a lineless Truxton I did for my brother. I'm a huge sucker for contrasting colours.
