So I took a commission from someone a few days ago. They wanted a picture of two of their characters fighting (over a girl who was both of their love interests) on a cliff with a sunset in the background.

One problem, though: one of their so-called 'original' characters was just Nuada from Hellboy with a different name.
What I'm going to do when I finish the piece is credit the company that owns Hellboy for Nuada, since I don't want to get in trouble for copying their character. But in the meantime, I want to show you guys the lineart.

Linked because it's a bit big.

I also want some advice. I'm not very good with lighting, especially lighting from the background (the sun will be somewhere in-between them in the back), so if anyone could give me tips on how to shade both characters I would appreciate that! I'm going to play around with shadows in photoshop, too, which is part of the reason I scanned it in as lineart only.

Bumping because I made a rough sort-of diagram for where I think the shadows should go in the picture. I could really use some pointers for this because shadows have never been my strong point.

Linked again because big.

Unless the figures and the light are in a direct line, I'd recommend expanding the highlights a bit. judging by their positions, I'm guessing that they're supposed to be a bit more around the light, in which case the angles of their torsos indicate that they should have a bit more light splashed onto the front.
But I like how it's turning out, and you did an awesome job everywhere else.

Okay, I'll give that a try. It was really hard to find reference pictures for people standing in a sunset that weren't completely silhouetted, so I kind of had to wing it, haha.

Ohhhh, it's a sunset. Okay. In that case, the shadows are good. I wasn't sure where the light was supposed to be placed. I just realized that you had a post about it on the last page. Sorry.

That's pretty dang cool. I've seen stuff start up like that on DA only to descend into a lot of booty patting the proletariats/'tutors'

I'd considered starting up one myself after one particular one died off but never did.
