Re: Art Thread
Some people might remember this, after a long break because I was so tired of this, I finally sat down and finished it. I had a different thing in mind, but since it turned out like poop, I went for a different approach. Looks still bad, but better than before. And in all honesty I am just pop flyin' that I'm finally done with it.

Re: Art Thread
What do you mean, it looks bad, Tatzel? I think it looks kick-booty.

Re: Art Thread
Haha, thanks. I think the reason why it looks 'bad' to me is that it took a lot longer than it actually should've, and it doesn't look nearly as good for the time put in this. Or, well, because I know I can do better.

Re: Art Thread
It was only a matter of time until I drew some JJBA fanart. Don't mind her legs, she's only a ghost. I have no idea what her real colors are, so I made up a color palette of my own which I thought would fit her.

Re: Art Thread
You're basing your opinion of her design completely on what you personally think is 'normal' in the G4 animation, which is the biggest issue here. I'll leave the fact that no one else has ever mentioned disliking her colours even when I tried to press them into it long ago when I first designed her, leaving the colours to stick, or that it seems people never say anything unless it's to say they dislike something, or that your criteria for a good design that you listed are highly inconsistent and arbitrary.
No, the issue on which I'm focusing, again, is that you're basing her on canon-animation G4, when she was designed as a planned G3 custom toy (note the hoof heart--not that I expect anyone to know this stuff)--Cutie Cascade type. In G3, triple-mane colours and even above are common. Symbols often fit a colour theme--but it was never a law for pony design, nor does it continue to be (and believe me, I've tried colour theming her symbol--it just doesn't look good, nor does it register as a peacock quill as another colour). The eyes never had to match, either, containing often multiple shades (Dream Blue's purple eyes with PANK highlights) and even entire rainbows (Rainbow Dash).
Here are a few Cutie Cascade and Pretty Patterns gradient boners.

I think the most important thing of all, though, is that I personally absolutely adore her colour scheme. And in the end, that's all that matters. <3
EDIT: Also, I have to ask--where are you getting yellow? She has no yellow in her palette..? Are you sure your monitor isn't messed up? Granted, I seem to be colour deficient, but I'm preeeeetty sure she does not and has not ever had my least favourite colour anywhere on her.
EDITEDIT: ...aaaand the peacock feather is crucial as well. She's me in pony form. It's not just a feather for the sake of being a feather--it's a peacock feather quill pen. I don't pick marks because they look pretty. I pick them because they mean something.
