Hey I have a question. Since some of you guys have a comic or just randomly do them, how do you start out? Or plan the panel's or background? I want to start a web comic sometime soon so can anyone recommend some books or tutorials? Much appreciated.

I like making very light sketches (if you're doing this traditionally) of panels but this is after I've thought out how much content will be in each page. It's recommended to make scripts with notes on how the page's layout will look so that you don't have to worry about remembering all that at the top of your head.

If I had tutorials on hand, I'd link them but I never looked up tutorials for this before. Trying searching for them on google or DA. DA surprisingly has a few good tutorials here and there

There is a book from Akira Toriyama and Akira Sakuma, I don't know the correct english title, but it should translate vaguely to "Manga art lessons". It gives a lot of tips on how to write a story and apply it to panels, how to start a chapter, how to make a script etc etc. I know it's explained on Manga, but it applys to every other form aswell.

For my method on a serious comic layout, I think about what I want in the chapter first, saying where it starts and where it ends.
Now you can say that this chapter will have 30 pages, so you can start writing the plot roughly for what happens on each page, this way you can already see how it work outs with your planning. I don't do this anymore, I just directly start sketching; maybe I should pick it up again.
Now if you have the story board, you proceed to sketch out the panels and pages. This way you can also see how your plot planning worked out.

Well, my method is some work yes, but in the end it's good training to get a hang of it.

And now I will break your computer.
