Re: Things that piss you off
The convenience store I work at is owned by a couple. They have completely different standards. The guy expects me to follow every single customers with a mop so that everything is always perfectly clean, and to replace every product on the shelves immediately after it's bought. The woman doesn't ca...

you'd think after 10 years of polite but firm declination people would stop trying to make me conform to their stupid drinking habits

Re: The Legend of Zelda
They did say a few months ago that they haven't decided on the story for Zelda U, meaning they're incredibly early in development. I'm pretty sure they usually do the story last. They begin with the gimmick they want to focus on (boat! wolf! train! bird and motion detection!) and then slap some for...

It'll be updated, for starters. Also they plan to add support for multiple rendering engines. I'm still using 12.16 but more and more sites don't work well with Presto, and the overall performance could be improved too. Opera 15+ is the most dumbed down thing since Safari but it's super fast and smo...

Re: Beatles Nerdfight Thread
I like their surreal stuff more than their silly love songs. My favorites are probably I am the walrus and A day in the life . I like their earlier stuff too but it's all plain guitar+bass+drum for me, that doesn't catch my interest for long. Last year I decided to listen through all of their albums...

What browser are you using?
One thing you could try is Opera with Turbo enabled. Your requests would transit through Opera's servers in Norway so it doesn't use your IP address (nor can your isp block the site you're trying to access). Also it compresses stuff in case you're on a data plan.

Re: Tech help general
I think it would need to support UEFI, but I'm pretty sure Ubuntu (and anything with grub2) does. Running live on a Mac is a lot easier than installing on a Mac. There's this neat little program that lets you install a distro on a usb stick, and it lets you set persistence. It's a lot faster than a ...

Re: Tech help general
Maybe it was its way to tell you the files in the iso are being loaded? LiveCDs are supposed to run on RAM only. You can have persistent files on a LiveUSB though, but even then, the hard drive shouldn't be modified in any way. My OS teacher made us use PartedMagic for such situations. It's a live d...

Re: Things that piss you off
Auughhh teamwork is the bane of my existence We have this programming assignment due tomorrow, and since I have done 75-80% of the job, my teammate and I decided he would finalize it. I just looked at his code for the first time. All of it ought to be redone because it's either not up to my standard...
